If you ask me in politics, too many people live in the past.

Working class people still vote Labour because of the economic positions that Labour and the Tories held half a century ago. Labour and the Tories are practically indistinguishable now on economics.

And then this comment from Heseltine. In his 80s-90s heyday, maybe lurching to the right was a concern for the Tories as they were on the right already. Since then we've seen the Tories inexorably move left, a phenomenon that was accelerated during the Corbyn challenge, so they absolutely need to lurch to the right just to get back on the flipping right.

And the other thing that I don't think people like Heseltine get, in the 80s-90s I'm sure positioning on the political spectrum was the main thing to worry about. But he clearly doesn't understand that we're literally losing our country. Immigration is running at levels of 1.5 million per year gross, illegal immigration is tripling each year. We're being successfully invaded by a hostile religion as we speak and Heseltine thinks preserving the Tories respectability is what's important. Woefully out of touch.

let’s get one thing straight. I’m thoroughly disgusted with the Met Police recently and the streets are going to get very violent because they aren’t doing their job properly.

Personally I feel sorry for the front-line police. There needs to be an acknowledgement now that there is a very large (and ever rising) amount of people in this country with loyalty to their religion over the UK, and who are willing to be violent and destructive against society in the name of that religion. After acknowledging how things now are, what should happen is:

1. Go back to every police officer being a minimum 5'10 12st bloke, who can tackle any protestor 1v1 with ease. No more 5'4 women scuttling about being useless in a physical situation and putting their fellow officers at risk.
2. Give police tasers, tear gas and full on riot gear every time they turn up to one of these protests. Rubber bullets if needed.
3. Make sure there's enough of them. No more situations where its 2-3 officers trying to deal with a crowd of 200 Palestine/Hamas supporters.
4. Give them the clear mandate to get stuck in at the first sign of the crowd being a public nuisance. A very clear zero tolerance policy.

This should have been done with the BLM cretins, it should have been done with the Extinction Rebellion cretins, and it should be done now.

Labour has lost control of Burnley Council after councillors who quit over Gaza formed a new coalition with the Greens and Lib Dems.
