Unfortunately the tories, or indeed any party do need a viable opposition. The opposition parties since the Brexit referendum have been reprehensible in putting party politics and their own careers before the best interests of the nation.

For the New Year my resolution is to stand as a Monster Raving Looney Party candidate in Chorley next time we have local elections.

My manifesto will include (see snippets thread) a free bottle of Benedictine for the over 70’s every winter to keep them toasty warm.

Being on benefit's long term without a care in the world and then suddenly facing the prospect of having to manage without them like everyone else has to do is bound to cause panic and psychological issues in the unprepared mind. Especially when the nicotine, alcohol and various other concoctions starts to dry up.
I might be being simplistic but gangs enrolled on community projects and only paid on hours contributed would be my advice for at least 75% of them. It would transform Blackburn too.

Lib Dem leader contender Layla Moran (she is the one who resembles that fleabag off the telly) has just gushingly come out as pan sexual. Had to look it up but effectively in lay mans terms it means a person who will shag owt.

However hope I'm not being a prude cos I don't give a flying one tbh but my natural cynicism prompts me to ask .......

1. Why did she not reveal her lack of sexual preference 3 weeks ago when she was requesting her electorate vote for her? Obvious now she's 'putting it about' the place that she's secured another 5 weeks on the gravy train and she's gambling people will have forgotten about it in 2024.
OR
2. Does she believe that with the number of Lib Dems virtually halved and given the err nature of their supporters that belonging to the LBGTQ brigade (btw no 'Pan' in there btw unless it's covered by the 'Q' of course) will give her some sort of leg up in the forthcoming leadership race?

In a perverse way we should all salute Corbyn, Momentum and the rest of the nasty hard left , who transformed the Labour party into a far left BNP . Their racism and bigotry , coupled with a manifesto of almost daily freebies and bribes, meant that no one with a hint of intelligence and morality would ever vote for them .

Corbyn’s Cult was an early Christmas gift to all those who still see the United Kingdom as a country of decency and tolerance , where if you have aspiration and you work hard , you’ll get on and get your rewards .
