I'm not as eager to jump on divers as many. Diving in part occurs because staying on your feet gets you absolutely nowhere. You could be kicked, have your shirt grabbed and practically give someone a piggy back in the penalty area as a striker and if you stay on your feet and focus on the ball, the ref will bottle it and do nothing 999 times out of 1000.

There is something in that to be honest.

Two points.
1. No one ever considers the Referees do they? Every week in virtually every match some Ref gives the wrong decision after he's been fooled by a player and is humiliated on TV afterwards. Many times these can change the result and the Ref carries the can and his reputation can suffer. If I were a ref and found out later that I had been duped I'd get my revenge next time out against him and his team. Call it retaliation if you like but it would be so easy to award a penalty given all the pulling and tugging that goes on in the box at corners etc. I'd quietly explain to the player afterwards too what his pervious action hade cost the team.... in private of course.;)

2. Compare football with the referees employed in Rugby.... Both codes. No backchat (not worth it as the punishment exceeds the crime in this sport) just a plain straightforward acceptance of every decision. Shouldn't be hard to emulate that should it?

It would be great to have a ref wear a head cam for a full match and then playback the controversial moments, just showing what he could see in real time.
No replays just one chance to make the call.
Get all the clever boy pundits in a studio and see how they manage.

Anyone can get it right when it’s slowed down and viewed from 4 different angles, which is what VAR is supposed to be helping with but I suppose it’s early days at the moment.

You are right it shouldn't. It also shouldn't be that hard to stop all the holding and shirt grabbing in the penalty area but it goes unpunished all the time. I remember a couple of games ago it got so bad that one of the Rovers' players, I think it was Nuttall, had to get a new shirt it was torn so badly, but no foul was given.

Not any more Abbey.

Dingles seem to be losing their shine at the minute. However 0-1 to Man Utd is no disgrace given the valuations of the two squads.

That's part of the magic of football that makes it so compulsive though isn't it? 'After the Lord Mayor's show'. Nothing like a great result one week to make any team vulnerable the next is there?

See if they want to swap?

I find that supporters that have not experienced relegation are the worst. They have no idea of the real world.

It says something about your support ( 17,000 capacity for home fans ?) when you're having the best season you've had in donkeys' years and there are still seats available two days before your biggest home match of the season against one of the best teams in the world .

Makes Rovers mid week crowd of 11,000 against Walsall look amazing

Not much to be proud about for the inhabitants of Proudsville

Wonderful ending to the Liverpool / Spurs match. Kane showed he is mortal after all by missing one penalty in the last few minutes before restoring his reputation by taking and scoring another at the death.
Best camera shot was Jurgen Klopp after the final whistle pulling faces at the linesman who awarded Spurs both penalties.:D
