Once again the better team lost.
How Rovers manage to perform so well with so many injuries and with a young side is a real credit to the manager and his staff.
Some of Rovers play is sublime with the pass and move played to perfection.
I’m gutted tonight for the players and the Ewood crowd who were brilliant.

What a top game for the neutral and what a clash of styles! How much do we need a target man, a proper no 9?

Why was Dolan subbed. He brought energy and pace, a very poor decision by JDT. Siggy should have been binned at ht.

Bollocks bollocks and more bollocks! Another derby defeat. Overall I thought an evenish game that we shaded but they don't give points for being the better side. Thought everyone was pretty solid, Hill's gonna be a star of the future somewhere but unfortunately not here. Sammy scored but had one of his quieter games I thought, but he can easily be forgiven after being our most consistent player this season.

Overall another derby that could have gone Rovers way but didn't and maybe the biggest disappointment was when you'd hope Rovers would be dominating and pushing in the last 5 or 10 minutes, it was Preston that seemed stronger.

The Rovers fans were decent tonight and credit given to their fans through clenched teeth, the noise at the end when they scored was brilliant, I was stood in the section near them and it was very loud. I think it would have been the same if we'd have nicked a late winner but again we've come off second best.

I'd still be more positive than negative about this season and we're playing so much better than we were when JDT first came, he's got a style that's entertaining and if we can keep him and maybe find a way to back him a bit more in the transfer market I've got a strong feeling the much maligned "project" talk could actually be seen through, if not this season, then in the near future.

Well done Preston (twats) and COYB.

Very gracious of you there to give the Preston fans credit 1SG, fair enough they were loud at times, but I didn't think they were consistently noisy for what is their cup final after all.

And otherwise they behaved like complete neanderthals, ruining the minute's silence (admittedly an idiot in our end started it, but it was them after that), about 8 thrown out, fighting among themselves at one point, pelting the Rovers fans with missiles at the end.

I think the Dingles would have been embarrassed with their behaviour. Sad twats just like Bolton, these clubs that are desperate to be our rivals are quite irritating. But just like I came to despise Bolton after a few years of it, I'm starting to think we've got to sort out Nob End next time.

I think we run out of steam and get bullied by teams.Potts should have been booked for ramming Moran into the wall. And the guy from huddersfield just ran round clogging.

Fairs fair BAWH, I'm pretty sure the first thing thrown at the end the match was a bottle from our section - and not an empty one either. It obviously came straight back and then it was just a free for all.

Emotions can run high and as you know I'm no saint but chucking things is going wau too far. You know I agree with you most of the time but I think it's a bit unfair to single their fans out in this instance,we were as bad and I also saw a few things being flung from the JW upper as well, I think it was just a pie or somat, but still.

Ah well must have missed that if it came from our end first. I agree there are idiots on both sides. I was massively embarrassed at the nonsense during the minute's silence. Our idiot shouting first, then our fans shouting at the Preston fans when they continued to interrupt it (just shut up and boo them after). I do wonder if the attention spans of the phone-addicted younger generation are so unbelievably tiny that they can't just stand there for even 1 minute without external stimuli to entertain them.

Anyway with regards to the game, I think it was our usual problem over the last few seasons of being bullied. I'm sure we all remember the first season under Hughes, and the Big Sam era, when the likes of Wenger and Benitez would moan about our dirty, physical, long-ball style. Its now the complete reverse situation for us in this league.

Passing teams tend to be soft as there's not many players out there who are both skillful and physical. I'm certain opposition managers look at our team before the game, and tell their players to get stuck into us, leave a bit in on challenges, smash us in the air etc. Both Whartons and Sigurdsson are too soft, Brittain and Tronstad are pretty soft, and the attitude of Szmodics, Moran and Dolan is fine but they're all about 10 stone and 5'7.

As soon as Ched Evans came on he just started doing the Ashley Barnes routine, i.e. being a dirty, obnoxious thug. But it works against us, that's what needs sorting out. It doesn't help obviously missing half our big lads who even if they're not tough can at least front up: Carter, Hyam, JRC, Gallagher, Hedges. But as a team we need to be more aggressive, I've played against teams at amateur level who aren't big 1v1, but any time you're physical on one of them, they act like a swarm of ants protecting the queen and you get it off all 10 of them.

Good post BAWH. I think it's been obvious for a while that we're lacking a bit of steel in the side, not effort , but that bit of nastiness and aggression. Apart from a couple of times that I thought Siggy was a bit half hearted in the challenge, I don't think you could fault the team for effort last night, as with most weeks, it's just that aggressiveness and maybe mental toughness that comes with age and experience that we're definitely lacking.

When JDT first came in the football was a bit turgid at times, but in no time he's got the team playing very attractive football with virtually no budget to work on and I've faith that if he was backed in the market he'd get the balance right and add those experienced more aggressive types to the squad. I think most fans biggest worry is that that won't happen and he'll be off sooner rather than later and we'll have to start over again, probably with a manger with nowhere near his ability.

I'd imagine the gizmo on his back told the bench that he was running on empty. tbh I recall thinking after 82/83 minutes that PNE were more likely to grab a winner as the rovers looked visibly short of energy. It had been a tough game played at an unbelievable pace and our short ball pass and move tactics use up energy. The subs bench was weak with only Jake Garrett that we could have used without an injury forcing the issue, no doubt with a fully fit squad JDT would have been able to use more. I wonder if having multiple balls on cones around the pitch affect players by not allowing them a breather every so often? If so JDT needs to instruct one or two to go down with a fake injury whilst the team get's it's breath back when he feels the need arises.
