If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:
blah blah blah
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Well I can't! After our November form of 11 points out of a possible 15 and results that put us at the very summit of the form table I'm struggling to come to terms with just 1 out of 9 in the last three matches. Until that is I believe the evidence of my own eyes that we have never been outplayed or humbled in any of those last three matches. All three teams above us in the table and featuring in the top six at some time or other. At Brentford we were on top until a very harsh decision on 39 mins gave Brentford a soft penalty to equalise and took us down to 10 men. At Bristol although not at our best we were always in the game and succumbed through a succession of errors to allow Bristol to grab a winner 9 minutes from the end when there was precious little time to strike back. Today whilst Norwich looked a class act we did give as good as we got and again ended up with nowt through the intervention of Lady Luck plus a truly wonderful save by McGovern in the Canaries goal. Yes I know they hit the bar when they should have scored but that was surely cancelled out by Gallaghers howitzer which thundered against the bar leaving it vibrating for long enough afterwards. Factor into this a cruel last minute deflected winner for Forest, and 'moral' but pointless victories by what are still effectively Premier League squads at Bournemouth and Watford and just how different could our season and League position be if half those results had been reversed?
So bedevilled by injuries, typically to our best and most influential players as we have been for all season do we succumb to self pity and much withering criticism or do we roll our sleeves up and with 28 matches and 84 points still to play for get on the front foot and carry on the fight? It has to be the latter or we could regret this season for a long time.
I did suggest earlier that this match was shaping up to be a real spectacle and so it was. Two fairly evenly matched teams going toe to toe for the three points on offer provided a great match for the neutral to enjoy. Unfortunately I'm not that neutral.
Kaminsky... 6 Suffered again from the goalie's nightmare by being beaten on .his near post. Again played teammates into trouble by insisting on passing it out of defence even to teammates facing the wrong way and under pressure.
Nyambe 7 A powerhouse display. Showing a great attacking understanding beginning to develop with Harvey Elliot. Somehow needs to produce a better end product.
Lenihan... 6 Had his hands full with Pukki and Martin. But OMG! His distribution is getting even worse.
Williams...6 Strangely preferred to Ayala but defended OK and got some telling blocks in against a quality Norwich attack. Played a dreadful hoofed clearance out which came straight back and led to Pukki's winner.
Douglas... 5 Doesn't convince me that he is an improvement on Bell defensively but he has a better footballing brain and a much better delivery into the area from the left wing. Just like Bell so frustrating because he does good things one minute and awful ones the next.
Elliot,,,, 8 His best display in a rover's shirt and gave Norwich full back Sorenson a really tough time. Displayed the first touch control of a Duff or a Tugay on occasions and capped a fine game off with a superbly executed finish.
Johnson... 7 Toughed it out in midfield and generally imposed himself very well against talented opponents.
Rothwell... 7 A few trademark runs but seemed to be more dedicated to defensive duties and nervous about venturing too far forward. Hence not as damaging to Norwich as he might have been normally.
Holtby... 6 Better than Wednesday night at Bristol but nowhere near as good and influential as he was at Deepdale. Needs to feel more pressure for his place in the team.
Gallagher... 7 Put a strong shift in and desperately unlucky not to get his name on the team sheet twice. Also put plenty of effort in off the ball by contributing defensively much better than he has been previously. Big black mark was the time and space he allowed Pukki to control, turn and fire past Kaminsky for the first goal.
Armstrong...6 Again not his usual self. Are teams coming to terms with him? Did have a shot late in the second half, well struck but from an angle and gave McGovern little problem in dealing with it. I've said previously that if he dries up we'll struggle and as all strikers do ha has dried up.
Subs
Buckley... (Rothwell 72) 6. A nice substitution but whilst he catches the eye with some cultured play is I feel unlikely to be a dynamic influence on proceedings.
Davenport... (Holtby 72) 6 Coming more and more into Mowbray's thinking. A decent substitution but will he ever find his way into the starting X1? If he is going to de he needs to be doing so before Travis returns.
Downing (Johnson) 5 Obviously under orders to play the deep sitting Trybull role (where was he btw?) but failed to make an impression.
Tony Mowbray.... 7 Sent out a decent team to combat the League leaders but must have run over a gypsy somewhere in the last fortnight. Again fortune didn't smile on the Rovers. Looked definitely gloomy and dispirited in the post match press conference for ifollow. It's been a tough week hasn't it?
Referee Dean Whitestone... 7 A decent enough match characterised like most good refs of hardly being noticed.
