Hill booked for waiting too long for a pass to reach him.🙄

Wahlstedt 3 poor
Hill. 3 sluggish
Carter 4
Wharton s 4
Pickering 4
Wharton a 5
Trondtad 4
Moran 3
Brittain 2
Leonard 2
Szmodfic 3

jdt 2 sent out a flat sluggish squad who looked nothing like they have in recent away matches and were never ever up for the challenge against the worst team in the division.
A bad day at the office all round.

ref David Webb 3 awful just awful. Nothing like strong enough to control Wednesdays dogs of war. Vaulks should have been off in the first half and when Webb finally showed him a yellow he yelled a volley of four letter words at him. Weak

Horrible game. Predicted 2-0 to us but had a feeling it would be a banana skin. Didn't feel like a 3-1 game but Wednesday had a buzz and fight about them. Do or die for them at the moment, so probably a bad time to play them.

Wahlstedt
Didn't stand up to be counted when we need someone to keep out the opposition. Probably a harsh assessment given that he's only 24, but he's not a big presence in goal.

Brittain
Got into good positions in the final third but lacked an end product.

Hill
Good, defensively, but played us into trouble with poor passing from time to time. Great cross for Szmodics' equaliser.

Carter
Can't believe he didn't score in the first-half from the corner. Hit it well, but defender in the way. Made one or two good runs forward, but otherwise largely unnoticeable.

S Wharton
More assured when passing out from the back than his usual self, but put one or two wild swings in without getting the ball. Not bad, but not great, either.

Pickering
Probably the best of the back five. Got forward well and put in a great low cross in the second-half which we should have been on the end of.

Tronstad
Thought he had a good first half. Industrious and collected when in a tight spot. Thought he disappeared in the second half.

A Wharton
Excellent passing throughout. I felt he was missing for Sheffield Wednesday's second goal when our midfield was wide open, but Tronstad, too, despite the foul on Hill which I didn't see.

Moran
Man of the Match. Created some great chances for us, and was the most productive on the ball.

Szmodics
Should have buried a couple of golden opportunities in the first half. Sublime header to get us level in the second half.

Leonard
Never got a chance. Neither big enough nor strong enough to lead the line against the big lads in the Wednesday defence.

As for the subs...

Telalovic
Did OK. Could have scored to get us back to 3-2 but stabbed at it a bit.

I think this was a game too far, particularly when it feels as though Wednesday are on a bit of a high. Half-expected a defeat, but it's disappointing all the same.

That Will Vaulks... I hope he gets his come-uppance. What a gob-shite he appears to be.

Like Drog says anybody can beat anybody in the Championship. We cannot make changes to keep players fresh like the teams above us.Leicester make on average 4 changes a game if we make 2 its usually injuries. Our bench today was bare only Garrett can make a difference and JDT sèems not to want to use him.Like i said after the Pne game teams bully us, some of the Sheffield tackling was borderline they made sure the man was hit as well as the ball. The ref had a stinker no wonder JDT lost it, he must have the patience of a saint.

Didn’t see that one coming!
A very physical opponent and a weak referee saw us off. Even the normally accommodating JDT was driven to anger by some of his decisions.
Some difficult games coming up and our squad is going to be severely tested. Let’s hope we get some of our injured back in.

We miss our injured players, i would say Pears ,JRC and Gally are invaluble to our squad.I like Brittian but he is like a fish out of water in the opposition area.Gally has his distractors but we need a experinced striker, i love Leonard but he just needs to bulk out and show no fear.Today he had a great chance to score in the first half but seemed to be in two minds and just poked the ball at the keepers midriff whem a chip or a powerful low shot was needed. The new keeper is ok but not in Pears class who himself was not in good form before injury.

Yeah I agree. But it all comes back to the root cause:

Players capable of producing consistent high quality performances are expensive.
The squad depth required to absorb the inevitably many injuries over a punishing Championship season is expensive.
Players who are good enough to play well in multiple positions are expensive.

Given what JDT is working with, any shot at the play-offs was always going to be an uphill struggle rather than a procession. Bad day at the office, and I'm sure we'll have many more before the season's out, but we've just gotta try and bounce back.

Not much to add really, as Drog says, a bad day at the office. With the age and depth of the squad it's inevitable to happen this season, it gives the young lads a chance to prove their mental toughness and bounce back in a biggy next week.

Obviously disappointed but overall you have to be happy with our performances and league position thus far and 1 off day shouldn't detract from that.

Two questions that I would like to ask JDT.
1. Why are we starting with a right back on the left wing?
2. Why is Garrett being frozen out of his thinking? Last time he came on for the last 10-15 minutes he provided two assists, also he has the guts and the game to stand up to Wednesday's bully boys.

I agree on your first point. I remember early in the season when we had a fully fit squad, the question was how to get 2 superb right-backs, JRC and Brittain, both in the team. The obvious options were play JRC centre-mid, or play Brittain right-wing. What the season so far has taught me is that none of our players, except Szmodics, are good in 2 positions. So yeah, for me either play Brittain right-back or don't play him.

Who would Garret replace though? I know Goozburger disagreed with me on this when I said it in a previous post, but for me A Wharton is diabolical defensively. He only seems to have one speed which is a light jog, and he's no strength, so as players regularly speed past him he can either do nothing or pull out his one defensive tool of a decent slide tackle, which gets him booked as often as it wins the ball back.

So if Garret comes into the team, he needs to have the ability to do the defensive work of 2 players in midfield. Something I thought Tronstad was starting to get the hang of, but 39 shots against us in the last 2 games from 2 poor teams would actually suggest otherwise. Or Garret needs to come in for A Wharton, which I think is a decent shout, but I can imagine the financial pressure on JDT to continue developing a guy PL clubs are sniffing around.

Doesn't need to come in for anyone necessarily but he should be used regularly from the bench to give the other midfielders a kick up the arse. Yesterday Moran, Tronstad and Wharton were very poor and any of them could have been taken off on 60 mins. I think they had been bullied physically and verbally by Vaulks and Co from the start. With no protection from the Referee young (and many overseas) players can be intimidated and especially when there is no Trav to take the hard men on. Garrett is a tough guy too, and last time out gave a very good account of himself.

Yesterday i would have brought Garrett on for Moran he looked knackered. That would have been after the equaliser of course.

He was very poor yesterday and imo that was because he was getting targeted for the rough stuff and with no protection from the prat with the whistle.
