It’s just taken me three weeks to get an appointment.

Laughable thing is that I'd had a cough for 4 weeks (bearing in mind the tv campaign about having a cough for 3 weeks and seeing a doctor) and rang the surgery for an appointment. "Certainly, that will be in 5 weeks"!!!! So that in direct contradiction of the tv ad became 9 weeks!

So whats the root cause of the delay in getting an appointment with a GP these days then?

Well imo it's because none of the gps at my practice see patients on more than 3 days in every week. They mostly have signed up to specialist clinics which accounts for another day per week and that's it.
IMO a charge of £10 per visit would perhaps make a difference for some of the time wasters.

The media frenzy over William and Kate is hilarious. You would think the media are aware that most photos on social media and publications are edited to look better than they are. This has been going on for years with advanced image editing software.

I'm reading that some celebrities are now deleting comments and conspiracy theories on social media about the matter. Why is it so difficult for people to reserve judgment or keep their counsel, at least until facts arise? Why, when we are without facts, do we resort to conspiracy theories and damaging insinuations?

I feel as though we are in a in an age of verbal fluff, gob-shites, and general stupidity.
