I was being politically correct if I said what I think Drog may have to ban me,there is a massive difference between a Muslim and a Buddist

There is waggy. In fact there appears to be a massive gulf between the brainwashed followers of the prophet and just about every other religion. The intolerance of the religion of peace is well known to all. Muslims express deep intolerance toward Hindus, Christians, Jews, Buddhists etc, and even between members of their own religion too! All fuelled in the Madrassas by preachers of hate. No wonder I hate religion is it?

Is he? Sounds like Farke has led the venkys right up the garden path.
Do you ever get the feeling of impending doom chaddy? My advice to 'look before you leap' and 'to be careful what you wish for' on previous pages appears to be playing out.
Remember a bookie would (based on the last dozen years) put venkys chances of improving on Mowbray and finding a top manager is at about 3/1 against

Alan Nixon on Twitter is claiming to know who the DoF is but is keeping his name a secret until next week when he will be announced. Nixon is usually wrong…….
Maybe the search for a manager might seriously start now?

If Nixon knew he would be bragging about it by now. Like all of us he has no clue.

I agree on your Farke point.

Not at all. Mowbray deserved to go and it should have gone Previous summer. Plus lets not forget he is the main reason why we failed to secure a playoff place after we were 2nd after the transfer window ended.

Perhaps your last sentence explains why we failed to secure a playoff place? We didn’t strengthen the squad due to our owners unwillingness. Our financial situation is horrendous and I can’t see us competing at the top end for some time to come. Loss of form, 2 crucial missed penalties and injuries to key players were also contributory factors. Mowbray was within a whisker of getting a top 6 spot.
Are you confident that a new manager will do it? Your longed for candidates have fled the scene. No new manager in place a month after the season ended. Back room staff leaving key positions whether as coaches, analysts or scouts. Out of contract players will leave as there seems little ambition at the moment with a new season a few short weeks away.
Burnley and Blackpool also searching for managers will dilute the gene pool of available stock.
I am repeating myself here but I await to feeling underwhelmed by our new appointment.

Mowbray signed 5 players in January and players like Giles and Hedges he didn't play them. I would say that his stubbornness and unwillingness to change formation and adapt the style abit cost us our playoffs place. The Preston performance show how we should play under the new head coach going forward.
He could have gone for Maja or another striker but he didn't.
Mowbray is to blame. Simple as it comes.

We should be targeting top 6 finish in the coming season. That should always be the aim not just mid table mediocre going nowhere isn't good enough anymore.
Yes several backroom staff have left but we will bring in replacements when the head coach is appointment.

If Lenihan and Nyambe want out then fine. We will replace you. The last player I got upset about leaving was Alan Shearer and I said I would never get upset or angry about player leaving our great club

Aren't Burnley appointing Kompany?

Blackpool. Well Critchley left for a reason. Maybe their budget isn't the biggest and so going forward will they go for another 23 coach or lower league manager.

1. Remind me Chaddy.... who was our manager back then?

and

2. We rarely have quality replacements lined up when we sell players. We certainly didn't bloody well replace Shearer did we? I wanted us to go for the very young Robbie Kean back then but true to Rover's form somebody called Per Pederson was our cut price option to replace the great man. As if! **I wonder what happened to Pederson? (It was just like trying to replace Fred Pick in the 60's with Johnny Byrom and Malc Darling. I didn't work and we were relegated only to then try and replace those two with a succession of complete duck eggs, Alan Gilliver, Frank Lord, Jim Fryatt etc etc:rolleyes:)
** Here we go, I've googled PP... Per Pedersen (footballer) - Wikipedia ** We signed him for 2.5 million, he played 14 times, scored one goal and then we gave him away! Great business. NOT! I bet Jack was bloody furious!

After Pederson we then went on to spew millions on a succession of blunt instruments i.e. Nathan Blake, Egil Ostenstad, Per Frandsen, Ashley Ward, under a succession of managerial failures until the once in a lifetime £15m was all gone and we were inevitably relegated. :pensive: Meanwhile Keane was sold to Coventry for 6m and then to Inter for 13m. Typical bloody Rovers. Why you have so much faith in the Rovers replacing them is touching if not very naive.

btw A similar feat of our incompetence was repeated in Jan 2007 with the Lassana Diarra fiasco and (imo) lead directly to Sparky leaving. A 7m investment which Pompey then sold to Real for over 20m inside a year! Whether another golden opportunity was missed in 95 with Zidane and Dugarry is open to conjecture.

and remind who the manager was who lost us our playoff place and even stop us challenging for top 2 even tho we were there after the transfer window? Mowbray has rightly gone.

I would say Martin Dahlin was the replacement for Shearer. If my memory serves me right Roy Hodgson was our manager then and he was doing very well but towards the end of the season we tail off and finish about 6th when it should have been 3rd or 4th IMO.

Fair enough you don't mention a certain Matt Jansen who Brian Kidd signed and he lead us to promotion when Souness was here.

We can replace Lenihan and Nyambe. these are good players but not players who are unreplaceable tho.

Fair enough. Poor old Matty. One stupid decision to ride a scooter around Rome cost him and us dearly. However Matt was also part of the team relegated in '99.

Good walk down memory lane there Drog! This is why I disagreed in the Brereton thread that selling him has any upside from a fans perspective. At most the new manager gets about a third of the fee, and then its the extremely hit and miss practice of signing a profilic striker.

I think we were spoilt in the Hughes era because he was a blummin genius at it. Bellamy, McCarthy, Santa Cruz. Signing 3 strikers at under £5m each and getting 20-goal returns (which Bellamy would have easily managed had he been fit all season) in the Premier League is unheard of.

But back to your original point, I've little doubt we'll get worse losing Nyambe, Lenihan and Rothwell. Maybe if the new manager had £10m to replace them, but doubt he will.

This is where a good scouting network comes in.

I will give you 2 names for each position I would replace them with the same or better quality than them. I have 4 names for centre midfielders cos we might need sign 2 centre midfielders this summer depends on where Buckley will play and whether we loan Jake Garrett out or not

RB - Kane Wilson from Forest Green Rovers. He is out of contract and From what I have read a very good attacking wing back/full back.
Cyrus Christie. on a free transfer and give us experience option whilst we develop James Brown.

CB - Alfie Mawson from Fulham. free transfer.
Charlie Goode from Brentford. Might cost 500k maybe 750k. Has been a captain at his club Northampton.

CM- Cameron Brannagan from Oxford. Scored 14 goals last season. Someone I think would cost 1.5 million to sign him
Josh Onomah from Fulham. Maybe a loan to buy. Might cost 2.5 million to sign him. maybe more
Callum Styles from Barnsley. I have read we had 1.5 million bid accepted for him in January but he stayed at Barnsley.
Josh Laurent from Reading. Out of contract now. Good player and should be coming in his peak years.
