This what the article says

"Don’t expect Tesco to come in and start building superstores just at the moment though. Instead, Tesco products will be sold by an existing Maltese supermarket (according to my source), and supplied by a company based in the Middle East.

This means you will be able to buy Tesco ranges including: Fresh & Frozen products; Groceries; Health & Beauty products; Alcohol; and Non-Food products. All right here in Malta.

The Tesco range should be available on the island within a month or two, if my source is to be believed.

So which existing supermarket will be selling Tesco products?

Well you’re pretty Smart, so I’m sure that you will figure it out."

no suggestion of Tesco moving it's HQ there, besides there is not a building big enough in Malta to house them

That article was from 2015. The one I linked was from yesterday and is probably what Philip is referring to.
Ah, I missed a bit off the link, I've fixed it now in the original post.

This is nothing to do with cheaper prices on the shelves and all to do with taxation. Plus they've no doubt got a bee in their bonnetts after the serious fraud squad have nailed their dodgy accounting practices. https://www.theguardian.com/busines...ace-500m-fine-accounting-scandal-analysts-say. I think they've since been found guilty and fined 129m.
Tesco are the new google / costa / amazon etc. Proves we are right to get out of EU when our eu allies (e.g. luxembourg, Rep Ireland, Malta etc provide companies based in europe beneficial tax systems. I trust that once free from the eu that we turn the tables and alter our tax laws to suit our own businesses and hole the likes of Tesco below the water line.

And this...... https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/jan/11/malta-tax-eu-presidency-green-meps
The real reason people move to Malta is not to provide help and succour for all those poor boat people. What a great asset to the eu Malta is.... Not! And those silly beggers in Brussels have given the backstabbers the bloody Presidency.

I suspect open warfare will break out over this between Staedler and Waldorf 'over the road'.

Aaarrrggghhh!!! Sorry, been arguing on BRFCS and just had to get that off my chest.

I've read what was said on the other site.
Talk about creating an issue where there isn't one,
All claims at the moment are ambit claims, and mean nothing.
I wouldn't mind if these people making these statements had any knowledge of what was going on, so, at this stage it's all pure imagination.
What I know, is there is a life and an active growing economy outside the EU, that is not dependant on the EU.

I had to laugh when Junker said that he had to get agreement from the 27 remaining nations about the UK's exit, then we've got Spain saying they want this, and no doubt some eastern european state that can't manage it's economy will say we want that; and that's before we get to Greece!
And I keep harping on about having another level of bureaucracy and who pays for it!!!!!

Thank God and metric temperatures are meaningless to me as well. USA have it right.
Hmmm Not sure about that cos USA pints and gallons aren't the same as ours.
