It's well publicised that the Rovers are after John McLaughlin Sunderland's scottish goalkeeper whose contract with the Black cats runs out at the end of this month.

Good luck to ToMo with that one and lets hope there is no repeat of the Bauer fiasco of last summer when we were rather humiliated by our close neighbours and rivals spiriting him away from under our noses! The silver lining of course was the inspired loan signing of the really excellent Tosin Aderabioyo whose partnership with Lenihan has blossomed.
However whilst I don't know whether or not this will be a good move the decision by either Christian Walton or Brighton for him to return to the seagulls is a strange one imo. Whilst I prefer Walton to Calamity Raya in the sticks I am pretty sure that he is not Premier League quality by some distance and he never will be. He doesn't imo have the strength of character and confidence required to play at the very top level. He made what could have been a costly rick on Saturday against Bristol when despite getting both hands to that header he could only push it into the side netting. Fortunately David Bentley in the Bristol goal had a mare which allowed us to reply with 3 goals which should be giving him nightmares right now.
After a rather flaky start at the Rovers Walton visibly gained in confidence as the season wore on and became quite a safe if not a spectacular pair of hands.
I can only assume it's a remuneration issue where a 2nd or even 3rd choice GK at a small Premier League outfit can earn more than a 1st choice regular in the Championship. All things being equal and if I were his agent I'd be persuading him to stay at Ewood and be a big fish in a small pond rather than a little fish in the Prem.
