i cannot believe we have not brought in reinforcements,a bleeding keeper would have helped.ok if the players TM were after are not available fair enough but im afraid not addressing the keeper problem will come back and bite us on the arse.

So Newcastle's Christian Atsu rejected a loan move to both Celtic and Rovers. Must say I'm not bothered about that given the reaction to this news from the NUFC supporters. Seems he's as popular as a turn in a swimming pool up there. I might be wrong but I'd suggest from reading about him that he's another overseas import quite happy to steal a living.

Sound like Walton had a blinder today although I’ve not seen the highlights yet.

Bitter sweet. He palmed a shot into the path of a striker for their equaliser BUT he made up for it and saved a point by stopping a certain winner with a breathtaking reaction save.

I havent seen it but I believe Raya blobbed did he? Didn't make any difference but in another match it could have done.

Edit.... I have now! 🙄 Lets be honest he could never eradicate those sort of gaffes when he was here could he? It's why Mowbray (and I) ran out of patience with him.

!!!! yesterday was a mistake in the Robinson for England or Enckelmans for Birmingham category -- I can never remember anything like it at Ewood since Flowers was beaten by a bobble of incredible proportions years ago

In all fairness Flower's gaff was caused by a massive bobble of the ball as I seem to rem was Robinson's. I have it that Enckleman's was careless and caused by him taking his eye off the ball. Make a mistake as a keeper and it's remembered for a long time. Liverpool's Karius for example being probably the world's biggest goalkeeping gaffes and lost the Champions League final.

The Flowers one was shown to be of his own making.
Video shows him making three or four indentations in the area with his heel to denote where the centre of the goals was.
Collymore's shot hit one of these and jumped over his shoulder as he was crouching to collect the ball.

I think Raya’s cock up aot the weekend was purely down to lack of concentration. He may be a great reflex shot stopper but when he used to come out for the ball from a corner it frightened the life out of me.

And me..... and his teamates...... and his manager!
Raya was such a good reaction keeper that they must have tried all sorts at Brockhall to cure his weakness on crosses before Mowbray lost patience and wrote him off.

Atsu just come on for NUFC as they go into extra time at Oxford. Looks pacy but I'm getting the opinion that he isn't that popular with the NUFC fans.

With the players we were getting linked with i am glad we did not get any of them. Depth to the squad would have been a good thing. In any case i think we will just miss out on the play-offs. The bigger push will be next season. So judge the in transfers then.

It was always going to be a slow build after promotion back to the Championship. I have great hopes but some of our fans want instant gratification, but that largely sums up society these days. We have some excellent youngsters coming through who are a joy to watch, the January transfer window is one of inflated prices and wages and TM was right not to blow the budget, he got caught short with Ben B and cannot afford to do the same again.

ps. welcome to the board.

It's well publicised that the Rovers are after John McLaughlin Sunderland's scottish goalkeeper whose contract with the Black cats runs out at the end of this month. https://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Football/League+One/Sunderland/Goalkeepers
Good luck to ToMo with that one and lets hope there is no repeat of the Bauer fiasco of last summer when we were rather humiliated by our close neighbours and rivals spiriting him away from under our noses! The silver lining of course was the inspired loan signing of the really excellent Tosin Aderabioyo whose partnership with Lenihan has blossomed.

However whilst I don't know whether or not this will be a good move the decision by either Christian Walton or Brighton for him to return to the seagulls is a strange one imo. Whilst I prefer Walton to Calamity Raya in the sticks I am pretty sure that he is not Premier League quality by some distance and he never will be. He doesn't imo have the strength of character and confidence required to play at the very top level. He made what could have been a costly rick on Saturday against Bristol when despite getting both hands to that header he could only push it into the side netting. Fortunately David Bentley in the Bristol goal had a mare which allowed us to reply with 3 goals which should be giving him nightmares right now.
After a rather flaky start at the Rovers Walton visibly gained in confidence as the season wore on and became quite a safe if not a spectacular pair of hands.
I can only assume it's a remuneration issue where a 2nd or even 3rd choice GK at a small Premier League outfit can earn more than a 1st choice regular in the Championship. All things being equal and if I were his agent I'd be persuading him to stay at Ewood and be a big fish in a small pond rather than a little fish in the Prem.

If I hear the goalkeepers name that sounds like a body organ that pumps blood I will scream.
