imo that patriotism is frequently adopted by immigrants unlike here where the resentment of the British flag, Empire etc appears to be adopted by immigrants. Not all of course, but perhaps you'll share my opinion?
I’ve noticed that. We have African American friends in the US and their patriotism is a sight to behold . Stars and Stripes outside the house and standing to the American anthem with hand on heart , yet their great grandparents were share croppers and their parents grew up under a semi apartheid system .
Over here patriotism is derided by the English left wing pseudo intelligentsia. That’s a much bigger problem than “ unpatriotic immigrants “ ( Islam puts a massive spoke in that particular wheel ) Their children/ grandchildren like ours are now brainwashed via the education system and other public institutions, especially the BBC and the rest of the televised media .
The Italian Marxist political scientist Antonio Gramsci argued that the Left did not have to win election after election, but only needed to take over the key institutions and then indoctrinate and brainwash the people .
How else do you explain that in 2019 one third of the electorate voted for a party led by a pro -IRA / Hamas / Hezbollah , anti - Semite Marxist ?
What I can’t understand is flag waving is fine as long as it’s the Irish , Scottish , Welsh or the EU project flag , but dare wave the Union flag and you’re a fascist .
