As we found out with Guernica in Spain, military powers do like an opportunity to try out various weapons in real war situations to determine their effectiveness. This obviously cuts both ways as the yanks and the rest of the western powers will be closely analysing the Russian armies successes and fails. I recall the GR1 Tornadoes and particularly the Stealth Bombers in the Gulf war '91 reportedly shocking the Russians with the accuracy and effectiveness of their bombing raids.

One thing can be said and that is the reputation of the Russian army has seriously been dented. Of course it’s always harder to send unmotivated soldiers against motivated soldiers but I didn’t expect this bad. However, hopefully they can come to a agreement of peace soonish.

The world will be. Nothing like a conflict to pore over and identify opponents weaknesses. It's why clubs send scouts to opponents games.
Also the manner and accuracy in which the us in particular and the uk deployed stealth bombers and gr1 tornadoes meant that the Russians behaved like a scared tortoise and kept their head in their shells for three decades.

Unfortunately though no matter how poorly the army is performing they do have more nukes than any other nation.
