I seem to recall that 30 odd years ago the worlds physicists and scientists came to the conclusion that no one would win a nuclear war as the "winners" would be subject to massive radiation problems plus a decade long nuclear winter as there would be so much ash and fallout in the atmosphere that it would blot out the sun. Crops would fail, pollinators would be killed and the surviving population would slowly starve. That is why should the conflict descend to that I'm of the opinion that someone close to Putin would put a bullet in the back of his head.

Correct why would Russia want a nuclear wasteland on their southern border and adjacent to the Donbas region that they covet so much. IMO Putin (if it is him) is full of p*ss and wind.

Himar missiles (High mobility artillery rocket systems) now being sent from the US to give the Ukrainians greater mid distance and accurate firepower. Another weapon system originally designed by BAE.
"The chassis was initially produced by BAE Systems Mobility & Protection Systems (formerly Armor Holdings Aerospace and Defense Group Tactical Vehicle Systems Division), the original equipment manufacturer of the FMTV. In 2010, production of the chassis was taken over by the Oshkosh Corporation. This ended in 2017;[11] both chassis and launcher system are now produced by Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control in Camden, Arkansas.[12]"

I bet the Yanks are loving having this test ground for their weapon’s. Mind you, I bet we are too.

Indeed so. The introduction of the stealth laser guided bombing of the first Gulf War and the GR1 Tornadoes saw the Russians take a step back. 20 years on and they've dared to take their head out of their shell again but this latest conflict is reminding them how much they rely on a numbers game rather than advanced military technology. The US and UK will be poring over the results of their weaponry and steepening their learning curve whilst Russia will be also be steepening their learning curve in a much more negative fashion. There will be a lot of information being gleaned from this conflict which the daily headlines won't pick up on.

All that cutting edge technology didn’t stop the Yanks in Iraq killing more coalition troops than the Iraqis did though?

In his memoirs Richard Nixon claimed that the Russians were less likely to push the button first because of their inherent racism and the chance that only people of colour might survive.

He also claimed that there was an unwritten law between the USA and USSR that the USA would nuke Eastern Europe, Russia would nuke Western Europe then they'd talk before each destroyed the other.

Much water under the bridge since then

Indeed not. Friendly fire frequently is a GI's biggest threat.

The Military Industrial Complex is what it is always about; creating and prolonging wars and conflicts.
Keeping the trillion dollar arms industry continuously going using all their usual lackies (NATO, UN etc. etc.) with the added bonus of being able to use much of the fallout for political gain.

Have a look at the contract they have with Ukraine. All aid is donated to be repaid back in dollars and they can only buy American systems. USA fleecing the world again.

As for us I'm sure we'll be happy to be paid in wheat, rapeseed and sunflower oil.

I disagree. The easiest, most self-serving thing to do in this conflict would be to not upset Russia by getting involved, and to not spend large amounts of money supplying Ukraine with weapons and various other aid. A bit like the selfish line Germany and France are taking.

As usual Britain seems to lead the way in doing whats right over doing whats best for us. Whether its ending world slavery 200 years ago, or wanting to queue to be considerate to others, I genuinely think our sense of fairness is second to none.

As for the Yanks, they do more than most and I'm very, very glad its been them policing the world the last century rather than Russia or China.

"President Vladimir Putin said Russia is rerouting trade to "reliable international partners" such as Brazil, India, China and South Africa as the West attempts to sever economic ties, during his video address to the virtual BRICS Summit."

So now we all know who to deal with and who not to deal with.
