Venkys: Is the proverbial about to hit the fan?

As some have remarked on twitter, this appears to be a reaction by Waggott to try and appease the fans. Typical he brought some players to protect him! He’s going to get some stick on Saturday and he knows it.
Waggott the ex agent, wonder if he’s mates with the sky sports crybaby?

From what I've heard about that meeting, the discussion on the atmosphere is by far the most depressing thing to me. Players apparently saying that playing at Ewood feels like being the away team.

I only go to about half the matches now, so do feel bad criticising those that go every week. But the only reason I stopped going is because I can't stand the moany atmosphere and there's no getting away from it no matter where you sit in the ground (having tried about 15 different places!).

Good to see 1SG back as he always agrees with me on this 😝 But being brutally frank, our fans are bloody awful when it comes to creating an atmosphere and getting behind the team. Plenty of criticism of Venkys for only maintaining us in the 2nd tier of English football, but if the football pyramid was based on fan passion we'd be semi-professional.

Atmosphere due to two things imo. First the biggy
1. Ground too big for the number of attendees.
2. The goings on since 2010 and the current form.
Let's just thank goodness we have 12000 or so never mind what they do cos it's twice the number we had 40 years ago before Jack turned up.

Whatever happened to The Darwen End atmosphere? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Going to Football isn't as popular as it used to be and has become a largely armchair fan sport.
There are so many teams with half empty grounds these days and the only chance they would ever have of filling them up would be if they were lucky enough to get Manchester United or Newcastle in the FA Cup and hope the away team took over the grounds.

Failing that a very cheap entry one off gimmic - like what Notts County have done a couple of times in recent years.

I can't really see teams spending money downsizing their grounds.
Perhaps another option might be a return to cardboard cut outs and speakers.🤪

The players need to wind their neck in. It's partially their own fault as to why the atmosphere is dead.

I think this stems from the former Head Coach which, in turn, has stemmed from his disillusionment with those above him. For me, Tomasson should never have let it unfold that way. I think he managed this part poorly and it is, sadly, a key quality needed for whoever is Head Coach under these owners.

Well it's in W01 of the Jack Walker but yeah not many left to be fair.

But as I say I do think there's just something missing with Rovers fans atmosphere-wise. My dad always tells me its been this way since the 70s, back in the 60s Rovers fans were brilliant so not sure what happened.

Whatever it is, I do think Venkys are a convenient excuse. Fans were still quite moany and quiet under Souness, Hughes and Allardyce from what I recall.

IMO there's always been a greater proportion of armchair fan "students of the game" (read: moaners) at Ewood than at other clubs. Burnley, Preston and Bolton seem to have thousands of "lads". Behaving like nobheads at times, but at least loudly getting behind their team. We don't seem to have many lads, just a collection of varied fans with ridiculous expectation levels and a propensity for slagging our own club off.

I'm 100% with Drog
The main reason for the lack of atmosphere is the ground size and the fact we are all spread out
On reflection (which is easy after the event) Jack should have built a " Rotherhams New York" size stadium - we would be compressed and that would lead to people joining in - I very rarely join in now because it feels wierd if no one around you has joined in

You can have 10,000 on at Rotherham and the place is rocking.

I might even put my own proposal forward to redevelop the Riverside. The proposal will include a reduction to 1,000 seats (massage style seats), a raised area for those with disabilities, a pizza joint, a shisha and chai bar, and a drug rehabilitation unit.

I'm an expert on this lads 😀 and while everyone knows I'm very critical of our home support it's also correct that the ground being the size it is really doesn't help. People fawn over the Blackpool fans but if you put 12 or 13 thousand Rovers fans in Bloomfield road each week and 10,000 of the tangerine tarts at Ewood, I bet people would have a very different viewpoint.

That's not an excuse, because we do have some terribly vanilla fans going on every week, but the ground is simply too big for a town of this size. I'll be singing for 10 today so don't worry :)

Not good reading but a pretty good summary of events since 19/11/2010 when brfcs nearly went into a meltdown of euphoria from the legions of impressionable know nowts over there.

Postponed until August due to a lack of court time.

It is a good job we sold Wharton, at least we can pay the milkman and buy some petrol for the lawnmower.

I'm feeling worn down by it all. The drama, the court cases, the chaotic decision making, hierarchy not being on the same page as the owners, etc. This will never end while Venkys are here. A couple of times in the last several years, I thought we'd finally turned a corner, but it seems we never do.

But if not Venkys, then whom? The club leaks ~£15m per year if it stands still. Is that down to servicing debts? Is it down to poor revenue and high running costs? Even if our next owners are filthy rich, how can they affect anything when we sail close to FFP non-compliance?

It's just bleak, but I'm magnetised to the games, even if they're miserable and hard work to watch.

You are right Gooz. It's getting harder and harder to support them.
