So a few questions and points about last night's events....
1. Why did the keepers go the wrong way so often in the shoot out? Even a toss of a coin would have had them guess right 50% of the time. I'd have Pears sitting down with our gk coach for a few intensive sessions on saving penalties.
2. I still wouldn't trust Hirst with a penalty.
3. Good to see Jack Vale score. He's not set the world on fire his season but I do see a 'player' in him. He does have awareness of other players around him and a quick brain imo.
4. Maybe time to replace Dolan on the bench with Markanday. Dolan looks short of confidence.
5. An amazing victory given that no 1st choice defender or midfielder was even in the squad.
All in all much to be glad about.

:D

Only problem with the Chelsea result is that City are still in!

Fantastic result for the club and made up for the fringe players, hopefully this will be a case of a cup run sparing the team on and not becoming a distraction. It'll be interesting to see if JDT sticks with the same players if we manage to get to the later stages?

Hopefully those squad players like Vale, Edun, Markandy etc will get a massive confidence boost from this and it can only be good for the squad as a whole. I still believe we're only 2 or 3 players off having a real chance of going up in an average year for the division. Maybe a couple of older heads in January - not cloggers - but good experienced pro's ala Barton when Burnley signed him, and who knows.

All in all it's becoming an exciting season. COYB

I'm rather hoping that the 'great result in europe / poor performance the weekend after' doesn't strike us. Hopefully with so many first teamers not even figuring in the squad at Wet Spam we should not be affected.

Get it Drog. For me my favourite 'oldies' at different times were Tony Field (who I happen to think was grossly underrated by the press) and Simon Barker.
In my view they both stepped up when needed.

Speedie would be in my top 10 all time favourite Rovers players and he was only here for 1 season, absolute legend. Other journeyman Rovers from my early days worth a mention, Frankie Stapleton, Gordon Cowans and another of my all time favourites Kevin Moran.

I was only 7 that season we went up in 91/92 but my dad had started taking me the year before, and I got the season video (back when they did those) every year for my birthday. I remember watching that one over and over again. "Speedie's on his way, he's on his hat-trick, he beats Peter Shilton!". Fantastic stuff.

1SG yes all proper players. And Kevin is a mate of mine!!
Seriously! Tell him he's a legend from me. I never thought I'd ever take to an ex Man Utd player but he was brilliant for us. That goal he scored in the away leg of the PO's against Derby summed him up. Wasn't the quickest or most athletic but up there with the best centre half's we've ever had despite him being well into his 30's when we signed him.

Tell him I named my grey parrot after him as well - he's still going strong at 24 😀

Yep . Was on a board of Directors with him. He did finance.
Just a top bloke.
I was at Derby for that game.
It was more a relief than a celebration.
Parrot?? Brilliant!

They've got the person who threw this so I wonder how severe will be the penalty? Football violence continues because imo soft sentences are the reason. At least 3 years in the Nick should be the norm.
