There's a discussion on the Sunderland fans forum about the problems they're having with the away fans being above the home fans. At the first match of the season against Coventry it's alleged (I've only read it on their forum and nowhere else) that a GLASS BOTTLE full of piss was thrown off the top tier by an away fan and luckily didn't cause any serious harm. In the Burnley match there was apparently vapes and loads of coins thrown from the away end causing Sunderland to search and confiscate coins and vapes from away fans in subsequent games.
I don't know if this will still be in force when We go on Boxing day but it's worth bearing in mind. As one Sunderland fan said, they don't mind anyone throwing notes at them . In all seriousness though, the throwing of stuff from the stands, like the drug problem, seems to be becoming an "in" thing at the footy and it's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt. It'll be sad if we have to start putting up with netting at the games like we are tomorrow.
