I don’t know why but I’m quite liking Magners Cider at the moment although I can’t bear to put ice in it though.
A drink to counteract Summer heat ..... for as long as it lasts that is.I don’t know why but I’m quite liking Magners Cider at the moment although I can’t bear to put ice in it though.
Unusual. Quantities?Sloe gin and Champers on Saturday. surprisingly good combo.
Mixed together? Beautiful!Sloe gin and Champers on Saturday. surprisingly good combo.
Looks like they have some good brews Dave.WB, it's brewed under licence in Aus now.
Have you tried "Collective Arts"?
They're a Canadian Craft brewer based in Hamilton Ont.
They're an interesting brewer in that they support the "arts" movement, music ,painting and the like.
They have a pretty good web page.
A good mix. I make around 3 litres of Sloe Gin every autumn. If Rovers get promotion to the Premiership this season I will bring a bottle down to Ewood for you chaps to enjoy.Sloe gin and Champers on Saturday. surprisingly good combo.
Thwaites Gold is really good. And that is coming from a lager drinker. I'm told it's based on the original Wainwrights. Best craft beer they did imo was a summer beer called 'Fine rain'. Whether they will ever do that again I don't know.A good mix. I make around 3 litres of Sloe Gin every autumn. Once I have made the Sloe Gin the left ver berries are mixed with cheap brandy for 6 months to make Sloe ‘Port’. After that the very boozy sloe berries are used to make a trifle.
WASTE NOT WANT NOT!!!
My favourite tipple at present is Booths Assam Tea. From Saturday (end of Dry January) it will be Thwaites Mild followed by a bottle of fine Rioja.
I must say that since Thwaites started brewing again (recently extended due to demand) their beers have been excellent. The Gold beats Marston’s brewed Wainwright’s hands down as does the Amber as a replacement for Marston’s Bomber. The IPA and Original are also decent pints.
FDJ = F**k Dry January
Yes Gold is based on the original Wainwright’s recipe. When Thwaites first brought out w/r it was a two month summer beer, it sold so well that overall beer sales went up 4% so they kept it on and paid a royalty for every barrel to the Wainwright trust or charity (not sure which one). Ever since Thwaites started brewing again, presumably without the additional ’travellears’ urine, it has a range of excellent draft beers. When w/r went to Marstons it went downhill - although if you go to the Lakes many Southerners on holiday swear by it believing it to be a decent pint.Thwaites Gold is really good. btw if Rovers get promoted I'll bring the bloody champagne!
I love the display cabinet with the old League Liner rail tickets from Rovers away games and the various old season tickets. It is well worth a visit and the ale is good too!!Said 'rovers fan' was Martin Brunnschwieler. Lived in either Osbaldeston/Balderstone before moving to the IoM. His car (like the one below) used to be parked outside th'Havvy every home match. You couldn't really miss it!

‘Wart starter Lager’Let me guess, you drink Warstarter Lager?
Who by, the bloody EUJust a point to note at this point. Warsteiner is actually classed as a beer and not a lager.
