Swung the axe ie dropped Rothwell. That’ll do nicely for me as it’s clear as mud he’s off soon. I’ve always rated Buckley and he seems to be constantly improving. Big Ben is rapidly becoming an excellent target man and together with the two young loanees and of course Dolan we have a phenomenal amount of pace up front.

Like the changed thread title BB
👍
I didn’t change the thread title, I would put it down to Drog and editorial control…..I do agree with him btw.

An excellent review Drog 👏👏

You refer to Edun. He looked mightily exposed on Wednesday and Fulham took full advantage, sadly Rothwell for that game showed his inability to cover and help out at the back. Khadra was different and gave Edun plenty of support.

I do like Edun, he is an excellent ball player and is always reading the game and looking for opportunities for us to counter. he looks like an excellent buy. I was chatting to some Lincoln fans at Wembley and they were most upset at losing him for what they thought was a paltry sum; there were similar comments from Crewe fans re Pickering.

Edun was hung out to dry by Rothwell against Fulham and I think Drog called it perfectly - khadra was also guilty for 20mins against Sheff Utd. To be fair he either twigged or was told to cover back more and that made the difference.
I can stand errors of judgement/naivety from young players

It just highlighted Rothwells total disregard for his team last Weds . To say his appearance on Sat was muted would be an understatement. We aren't stupid Joe!!

I confess I did that title change BB. Seemed appropriate given the level of performance from the team. ;)

Finding talent in the lower leagues and abroad plus bringing fallen youth stars from the big clubs to our Academy has to be our future.

From khmer's link.
One thing that I hadn't considered is that Khadra is still only 20, Poveda just 21, Davenport 22. By contrast Wharton was the grand old man of the newcomers on Saturday of just 24! Subs were Dolan at 19, Rothwell at 26 and Butterworth at just 21. We have one hell of a young squad don't we? No wonder sometimes they can be a little inconsistent.

I find it strange that TM referred to Joe Rothwell still learning his position at 26 though!

Thats just management talk and if I was Joe Rothwell I would see it as what it is! A slap across the chops

I sometimes think TM does not remember what he said previous, he said before the QPR you need to play your best team every game, then made changes. I do not think anyone believes that players were rested Saturday, we have still not heard why JRC was missing on sat, then it would have been five changes. I can't believe 19 yr olds can't play 3 games a week. The dribble that Rothwell is still learning at 26 is a insult to Joe, apart from Drog we were all happy to see the back of Rothwell after wed.If he is leaving we should be told and Joe should be getting splinters in his arse. How many would be happy to see the same side as Saturday at Bristol in a fortnight.I would be but will tinkerman Tony.
Ps,on Sat on the Radio it said Davenport was out of contract in the summer.

There all youth team players, apprenticeship wage for them. Can see why Rothwell wants to move and Buckley ,Wharton and Travis need a pay rise. How can Davenport earn more than them , obviously he was at citeh and was paid well.

It's possible that we are only paying a percentage although if that were the case I'd imagine Liverpool would want to see him figure more in games.

At 26 the next contract is massive to Joe Rothwell. Small wonder that he's open to the highest bidder. Perhaps now people will understand his refusal to sign a new contract.
Also waggy I'd add Dolan to that list who we need to be discussing a pay rise with.

Sad also to say but I see Dack's remuneration as being money down the drain. I doubt we'll ever see the old Bradley Dack after those two horrific injuries. Let's be honest he was hardly a quick player before them was he?

I think 3,600 is a good amount for a 19 yr old as far Dack we had to give him a decent contract, nobody can foresee the future, but when finance is tight it does not help that your highest paid players are injury prone.
