I'm saying nowt OOT! EXCEPT to point out that 12 points from 13 Prem matches is now less that 3 weeks later 25 from 18. And that is precisely why I don't need to say anything. ;)

Really? You should become a Premier League manager then. I believe it's pretty good money. Rumour is that he's on 6m for 18 months work so get onto the Everton board immediately and tell em to bin him off and that you'll do it for 5m! Good luck!;)

Waggy I hate to say 'I told you so' that he Allardyce was the best man for our job at that time and that you were wrong to want him booting out of the Rover's job almost a decade ago, but............ I bloody well told you so! I'd have thought the failed Ince experiment might have been enough to convince you but subsequent appointments would have convinced a blind man on a galloping horse! It'd be funny if it wasn't all so tragic.:pensive:

Quite true dave. Pretty certain there have been many crooks dipping into the till at Ewood during the years following Jack's death. I'm not saying Allardyce was one as there appears no hard evidence to substantiate that other than tittle tattle based on individual agenda, however it's clear to me that Allardyce was the only one of those to put anything back into the credit column.

I'd have him back Gord.
There are too many in football ready to point the finger, but unwilling to find the alternative.
Give me the boring wins, as long as it keeps us in the big game.

unwilling unable.

Lots have tried but every club he's left suffer a significant downturn in fortunes don't they? I'll admit that the football at the rovers was poor but then so was the squad that he inherited. The fact remains that walking away from the ground after a turgid 1-0 win will always be a better feeling than trudging away after yet another 2-3 loss.
It's all history now but it's clear following the disastrous Ince experiment necessitating board action to bin him off before it was too late that his brief back then was to stay in the Prem first and entertain second. Whether the supporters knew it or not the club was for sale and the value and desirability of a Premier League club far exceeds that of a Championship one....... which in turn exceeds that of a League 1 outfit.

Allardyce and his ilk have turned football into a free for all for any unscrupulous arse hole that comes along with a game plan.

Agents with power way beyond their remit is a direct result of bungs, brown envelopes and flights to the far East brokered by dodgy greedy batstard managers like that ****.

Anderson, Kean and the rest of the scumbags that have bled the club dry have been put in that position by Allardyce and his mates, empowered over the years, its staring at you in the face and you're all lording his ability as a manager.

Bunkum  (I'm going for a lie down)

Bfs was a crook before he even darkened the door of ewood.
They all were! Everyone in football that could make an extra buck - did!
It was (and probably still is - but better hidden) what they all did/do

Sam is now in the top half dozen paid managers in the world (more than ZZ at Real Madrid) and that comes from a very good source

Wakey wakey Gav! :sun: Maybe I'd better add that the above is your own opinion and is in no way the opinion of Roversfans.com.

So.... Rather ironic then that Anderson / Kean were the ones to get rid of him.

However I don't think I've ever 'lauded' him personally (reason being I don't know him). I've only ever commented on his ability as a football manager and the respect players hold for him. Most people have responded to provide arguments and counter arguments on that topic. Now that the counter arguments against his managerial ability have been invalidated by his achievements his detractors appear to be moving the goal posts in what some might suggest is desperation.
One thing I might add is that whilst he has had a somewhat tarnished image due to the ridiculously vacuous BBC documentary in 2006. Nothing was ever proven and let's be honest he must have been thoroughly investigated and given a clean bill of health to be even given the England job. His demise from that position was again to be the result of a stitch up by the Daily Telegraph and following carefully written and edited articles by assorted press and media sources. Ill advised and stupid to even meet those people maybe offers more pointers to his personality and character than other allegations.

Lifted from Wiki on his England exit ...
In September 2016, Daily Telegraph reporters posing as businessmen filmed Allardyce, who had recently been appointed the manager of the England football team, allegedly offering to give advice on how to get around on FA rules on player third party ownership and negotiating a £400,000 deal, subject to FA approval.[3][221] As a result, he left his job as England manager by mutual agreement with the FA after just one game in charge.[222]

Robert Sullivan, Director of Strategy at the FA, later confirmed to the Commons Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee that Allardyce's comments were "a factual, correct statement around the laws of the English game and having third-party ownership"[223]

Following a review by City of London Police, Allardyce was cleared of any wrongdoing with the Daily Telegraph also clarifying that it "did not suggest that Allardyce had broken the law"[224]

Speaking to the Observer, Martin Glen, CEO of the FA, said that "it is a tragedy that we have ended up having to part company with him [Allardyce] over the, the – you know – entrapment".

A sincere welcome back Gav even though you are talking crap.

Neither me nor you would have been caught in such a sting because we have nothing to hide Gordon.

We'd not have been forced to resign, but the biggest tragedy is the pay off - absolutely disgusting.

Yes the pay off is disgusting. I rate him as a manager.....as for his business dealings that is different and it does taint his positives.

Btw: welcome back Gavin. It is good to see you again.

If you want someone to keep you in the Premiership he's the man, no doubt about it, but if you want decent football, the odd away win and a Pot in the cabinet you've got not chance.

The very fact he'll only work with certain agents, who can only bring in certain players, because of certain deals done in the background robs the paying public.

The books are cooked PB and thats not right, the mans an arse.
