The real Brexit thread

That really would be the doomsday scenario . Communist led Trade Unions , strikes a plenty , rampant inflation , double digit interest rates , power cuts , rubbish piling up in the streets , pickets outside maternity wards , power cuts , bodies not being buried .
It's ironic that the unthinking right wing come out with this back to the 1970s nonsense when they want to bring back arcaic rubbish like grammar schools, imperial weights and measures, hunting with dogs and corporal punishment in schools.

How does that post above equate with your " 40 years of economic success " that happened after the 1970s ?

Oh sorry you've just deleted 90% of it .

The Winter of Discontent - hospitals on strike, the railways closed by strikes, water workers disputes in the North West, fuel and food shortages caused by lorry drivers strikes and other disputes involving BBC staff, car workers, civil servants and teachers.

It was hell and I accept there was lots of archaic rubbish, but that tended to be on the streets . If you didn't experience it , I guess you can be excused for failing to learn the lessons of history. Yes Corbyn's Labour will reverse Britain , right back to the 1970s

The Trade Union, Unite, led by Red Ken, Corbyn's puppet master used those awful zero hours contracts . I know you deleted that bit , but it really is rank hypocrisy from Red Ken ( McClusky not Livingstone )

Jim mentioned the "late, lamented Gordon Moulden" on BRFCS the other day when talking about Allardyce. Certainly something he and Thenodrog agree on. Is that you Theno or someone who's actually dead?

More hypocrisy from the " all over the place " left wing . Grammar schools are very popular among hard left Corbynista Labour MPs . They ditch their so called principles and move heaven and earth to get their own children into them , but then, when questioned about it, it becomes a personal matter :joy: . Try telling Lady Nugee & Dianne Abacus grammar schools are archaic rubbish !

My immediate suspicion quickly to become full on opposition to the venkymob was usually met with the default accusation by most of the gormless happy clappers over there that I was racially motivated. I believe that my immediate incredulity and disbelief that the complete numpty Paul Ince was to be given the task of replacing Mark Hughes and my suggestion that he must have learning difficulties didn't help my case

btw I've quoted that 'Bob's couple of posts myself before. Uncannily accurate. I can only assume that he has tardis in the garage.

Nowt wrong with any of those, possible exception of hunting with dogs. The rest would be welcomed.

I was that gloomy that I didn't even leave the concourse. Virtually stood on my own down there I was with a face like a bulldog licking piss off a nettle.

Brexit will be coming to a town near you very soon. I agree anything that weakens London is welcome but Prof Minford said it was likely to wipe out manufacturing too - so the north is going to suffer.

I'm very glad that we will be taking back control.....under Jeremy Corbyn. I'm looking forward to taking back control of our railway lines, gas pipes, electricity systems, nuclear power, water companies and above all our NHS, out of the hands of the filthy "wealth creators" who have drained them of cash and resources in order to feed greedy shareholders and boardroom directors.

The tax evading and avoiding "wealth creators" are on notice....Jeremy and the HMRC are coming to get you
How would Labour get EU approval to nationalize the utilities and rail ?

Operated by French and German companies

Exactly, which puts the plan in direct conflict with Soros and his European Group, the people who meet behind closed doors the week before every EU presidency change, to determine the Commission's instructions to be passed down to the EU Parliament for approval

Not that simple Jim, people like vgina Miller would launch a legal challenge under EU competition rules and loss of earnings for Soros’s cohorts

So that's the EBA and EMA out of the door, to Paris and Amsterdam respectively, to be followed by many more.
Oh dear , the Remoaners, EU fundamentalists , UK bashers and the liberal / left wing intelligentsia ( all much the same) are going to be choking on their frappuccinos this morning .

Having lost two EU based London quangos ( largely funded by UK tax payers ) in exchange we're now getting nearly 2000 highly skilled private sector jobs, creating some real wealth . Even worse for the doom mongers , 800 are in the North West !

My mate owns and manages a very successful plastics factory, and he has just invested heavily in new machinery. He voted Brexit even though his export markets are 50:50 Europe / North America.

Q. What does he say the biggest advantage of EU membership has ever been?
A. Cheap labour from Europe that has kept his wage bill down and forced down wage increase demands from UK staff.

I must say that it's good to see the Conservative party finally rejecting the failed free-market neoliberal policies of the past 40 years that has been the cause of so much inequality and adopting Labour's policy of an industrial strategy.

However, it can be only 2 cheers for Greg Clarke's initiative. I do not mean this disparagingly. It's a thorough piece of work, getting past the right-wing Thatcherite dinosaurs on the Tory backbenches was no mean feat and it is a vital first step to Britain's industrial survival.

But the difference it will make to our economic performance will not even show on the radar for five years and it is more like 15-20 years and the backing of a succession of governments of whatever colour before it really bears fruit and becomes a significant engine of economic growth.

Unfortunately, until then Brexit remains the elephant in the room.
