I've thought of that possibility WB. Burnley have 3 good keepers tbh who would all walk in our team. Pope's reputedly off so that might leave them needing Joe Hart. Unfortunately he is 'damaged goods' now imo and not the keeper that he was, plus I couldn't stand them actually subsidising us and the local bragging rights that would go with it.
We need a better keeper without a doubt, we've gone as far as we can at the moment with the current two, they've had their chance. There really must be better options out there.

Either of those could perhaps make a more rounded keeper out of Raya.

It's one of those 'suck it and see' situations isn't it? He'd be better tha what we have but he'd prob be too expensive plus have his powers faded? The last 2/3 years haven't been kind to him have they? Possible that De Gea is slipping down a similar slope too.

If memory serves me right, when Souness took over a relegated Rovers c.2000 we had a great shot stopper in John Filan. No disrespect to Filan, but in my opinion, he didn't command his area well. Souness brought in Brad Friedel and the rest is history.

Not saying Hart is up to Friedel's standards, but at Championship level, where defenders maybe aren't as sharp as at Premier League level, it's better to have a good keeper barking orders and controlling the defensive zone. At 32, Hart's still young, yet he has EPL medals.

Why wouldn't you want someone like him at the club?

Correct SLKS. A 'proper' keeper dominates and organises his defenders and that's what imo Raya (fine reaction keeper that he is) cannot do. GK is the only player that can see the entire game panning out in front of him.
I'd love to review the entire season and see just how many points he has cost us with amateurish mistakes based on his indecision and lack of confidence. I will at this point say that some of his saves have saved us points too. I presume the coaching staff have produced a balance sheet, compared it with general GK stats and that is why we are looking for a replacement.


btw if Joe Hart ever dreamt that he was as good as Brad Friedel he'd better wake up and apologise.

I see Charlton have made the League 1 play off final (after another daft penalty attempt by a Doncaster player missed the target). I guess if they win the final the Patrick Bauer option becomes less likely
