Much the same with allardyce. Lots of Joe public who have had dealings with him don't appear to like his personality but his ex players when giving their opinions certainly seem to respect him as a top football manager.
Plus the fact that he is as corrupt as they come.

I could take to Allardyce despite his alleged corruption. A really good manager. I just feel he gives everything he has to the club he’s managing .

On the other hand I never took to Dalglish , despite his success , due to him wanting to return to Liverpool during his time at the Rovers ( very disloyal) and him baling out / moving upstairs after Premier League win . That was when we needed continuity to consolidate as a top club and I thought he let Jack down big style .

That's a daft comment, it's hardly nonsense. Doubtless asked for a comment by the LT's Rich Sharpe and bound by the club to provide copy as he is regularly, he has come up with one based on solid stats. Why not stick to well thought out and reasoned critique rather than resort to scoring petty points?
I know WB that if you keep sticking the knife in and sniping that one day you'll get your wish, that's football isn't it? Then we will be able to really judge Mowbray's ability based on the previous Manager, Mowbray and the next one. Are you feeling so confident that your opinion will be proven correct .... without even knowing who will be coming in? If so you are a braver man than I. Lets be honest the V's track record in managerial appointments hasn't been great over the last decade has it?

My criticism of those comments is that we haven't been scoring enough for our play that's for sure. Most could surely see that is because we are short of a regular finisher to get into the box as second striker. Dack illustrated that to perfection inside a minute v Coventry. We have been desperately unlucky in that position as injuries to Dack, BBD and Markandy have hit us hard and especially following the loss to the squad of Adam Armstrong. How many other teams in the promotion frame have lost a 29 goal man and been beset by so many injuries?
The main issue that I have picked up on with that Telewag piece is that he says the squad is young and the players are still learning. It is for sure and my worry is that the squad won't be together in a year or two when they should all be at their best. :worried: Twas ever thus unfortunately, apart of course from the Walker years.

If he was being honest drog, he would just say he hasn't a clue.
The lads weren't inexperienced when they got to second and third in the table were they?
Mowbray had had a couple of tremendous months at the end of last year and nothing much since.
Let's look at the previous season.
What a surprise, he did the same then too.

The record winless run in our history
The record home defeat in our history
The record goalless run in our history.
And you think he's a star?
Get him out of the door.

Perhaps not a star but the best Manager out of the last dozen years. And the 64000 dollar question is who will we get next? You can have no idea about that which makes your vindictive attitude all the more perplexing.
Reminds me of when we hounded Bowyer out and we got two Godawful managers in his place and a relegation to boot. That was a great result wasn't it? The previous time we hounded out a top Manager guess where that ended up.... relegated and robbed! Another top result. Ask around now who were the supporters who called for the heads of Allardyce and Bowyer and guess what? Virtual silence. The guilty culprits are as rare as hens teeth.... their stupidity obviously playing second fiddle to their guilt!

Question for you WB... How many other clubs in the promotion shake up this year have supporters who are continually calling for their Manager to be sacked? The only manager I find currently in the sack race is O'Neill at Stoke.... and they are reportedly after Mowbray to replace him! No wonder they want a change given the cost of that squad. O'Neill is most definitely UNDER performing so it's natural that they will want one who is OVER performing. Sorry but on the evidence of his tenure at Ewood no argument you can offer will ever convince me that TM is under performing.

I found this table albeit from two seasons ago. Championship wage bills.....
2019/20 - wage bills

1: £94.2m - Stoke City
2: £92.2m - West Brom
3: £90.7m - Swansea City
4: £62.6m - Huddersfield
5: £54.3m - Fulham
6: £48.7m - Middlesbrough
7: £46.4m - Cardiff City
8: £40.4m - Derby
9: £38.5m - Birmingham
10: £35.3m - Reading
11: £31.3m - Leeds
12: £31.1m - Hull
13: £30.6m - QPR
14: £29.3m - Sheff Wed
15: £27.7m - Nottm Forest
16: £27.2m - Bristol City
17: £17.1m - Brentford
18: £16.7m - Blackburn
19: £15.0m - Preston
20: £13.3m - Millwall
21: £11.7m - Wigan
22: £10.6m - Barnsley
23: £10.2m - Charlton
24: £6.2m - Luton

Taking all that into consideration most would say Mowbray is doing a damned good job and any criticism is unfair. I could go back further and suggest that TM is doing a similar job to Don Mackay, only Jacks millions which are a distant memory altered our situation back then and got us out of the Championship, in fact over the last century given that the last time we won the League was before WW1!

A hidden slant to that table is what quality of Manager would come to what is effectively a 'poor' club in the Division to replace him? I really have to wonder how you can want him out so much after such a good season? I don't know what Mowbray earns but I doubt it will be anything close to Championship big bucks.
Here if you want a new Manager of quality this is what we will have to pay him from our 8000 ST holders and a few walk ons (again this is two years old.).
( Physios on £191,000 and kit men on £56,000! Crazy wages don't add up in EFL with clubs on the brink | Daily Mail Online )
The highest paid Championship manager among those who responded is paid £3.46million a year — £66,538 a week, with an average across the division of £878,000 a year. One assistant manager, meanwhile, receives a whopping £812,496 (£15,625).

All in all and all things considered I bet Mowbray can't wait to get the call from Stoke and if he goes for a King's ransom with time running down on his working life who could blame him? He owes it to his family to leave here.

Bowyer was a dreadful appointment.
He had a side full of really good players and couldn't get us into the top six once in the seasons he was in charge.
But we gave it a good go 🙄

Since the turn of this year our results have been very poor.
Mowbray has been a lucky fella because we have stayed in the top six a few weeks longer than we really should due to other teams having to play catch up with their games in hand.
We are now effectively 8th.
I would love us to get to the play offs and further.
Perhaps with Dack and Diaz back we might turn the corner just at the right time.
If, however, we end up 8th or 9th it won't have been a good season.
It will have been our best chance for a shot at promotion for years and our failure to capitalise won't be down to inexperienced players but an inadequate manager.
Bradley Johnson up front?
Vale given just six minutes game time when we hadn't scored for about nine solid hours?
I expect there are quite a few ambitious younger managers who would love to be in Mowbray's chair.

'DREADFUL'? REALLY? THEN HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE KEANA, BERG, APPLETON, BLACK, LAMBERT, COYLE?

AGREED BUT THEY WERE VERY GOOD BEFORE THE TURN OF THE YEAR. ONLY FULHAM AND FOREST IMO HAVE HAD A GREAT 2022.

DOESN'T SOUND LIKE IT WITH YOU DESPERATELY WANTING THE MANAGER OUT.
Perhaps with Dack and Diaz back we might turn the corner just at the right time.
AS I'VE SAID WE HAVE BEEN DESPERATELY UNLUCKY TO LOSE THE SERVICES OF SO MANY STRIKERS. NONE OF IT DOWN TO MOWBRAY.
If, however, we end up 8th or 9th it won't have been a good season.
REALLY? BEG TO DIFFER, IT'LL HAVE BEEN OUR BEST SEASON SINCE THE WALKER YEARS.
It will have been our best chance for a shot at promotion for years and our failure to capitalise won't be down to inexperienced players but an inadequate manager.
INJURED STRIKERS AGAIN. OH AND OF COURSE THE SALE OF AA. ALL NOWT TO DO WITH THE MANAGER
Bradley Johnson up front?
'SECOND STRIKER' ACTUALLY DIDN'T WORK DID IT? HE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THERE THO IF OUR STRIKERS WEREN'T ON THE TREATMENT TABLE.
Vale given just six minutes game time when we hadn't scored for about nine solid hours?
AGREED ... BUT THEN AGAIN I HAVEN'T SEEN JACK VALE LIVE OTHER THAN A 10 MINUTE CAMEO FOR THE FIRST TEAM SO I CANNOT REALLY COMMENT. HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU WATCHED HIM LIVE WB?
I expect there are quite a few ambitious younger managers who would love to be in Mowbray's chair.
NAMES?

Lame excuses.
There's only been Diaz missing who was playing when we had the run in autumn that got us into the top three.
And you regularly say he's crap.
Make your mind up.

I haven't seen Vale live in the flesh at all but I've seen plenty combinations of Gallagher, Khadra and Buckley up front with no goals at all during the recent spell, so surely it was time to try someone who was scoring regularly, albeit for the u-23s?
Instead we got the master stroke of Bradley Johnson up front or a continuation of what wasn't working.
And wanting the manager gone is nothing like the same as wanting the team to fail.

During my time supporting the Rovers prior to the Jack years , between 1966 and 1992 , with the odd exception , the board could always be trusted to appoint a decent manager . We all know who they were , from Furphy to McKay .

Since the takeover by Venkys , our record has been appalling . I’d argue we’ve had one Manager whose overachieved and that’s been TM .

I’d sort of understand the calls for change if the old Rovers board was in situ . I’d trust them to find an Allardyce, a Dyche , a Warnock or someone similar . However over the last 10 years have we learnt nothing ? Asking the current ‘ board ‘ to replace TM with someone better is a massive risk and although not a betting man , the odds of getting that certain someone are heavily stacked against us .

We are currently 8th in a tough league , with numerous clubs with much bigger financial muscle . We have a chance , albeit a slim chance , of a playoff spot . That’s a decent achievement and TM deserves credit . If the fans who want him gone , get their way , then we all have to hope the new man can match or better his achievements.

We have to be careful what we wish for . All I can think of is a similar clamour to get rid of Big Sam when a much richer and bigger Rovers were treading water in the world’s best league . It just wasn’t good enough for many of our entitled fans , they wanted Rovers to play like Barcelona. Well in the end they got their way and it didn’t end well did it ?

This....

above all other comment!

As I say anyone else in the Championship promotion run in in April stupid enough to want to pot off their Manager? I really don't understand it.

So, OOT, do you want Mowbray to stay forever?
If not, then for how long?
And if he retires, who comes in then?
Or do we just fold the club at that point because there's nobody else good enough to replace him?
How can you say Venkys are clueless at appointing managers but then tell us their last appointment was a really good one?

Eventually managers are sacked or move on . His current record which more or less shows improvement year on year means he has credit in the bank . I’d offer him a new 2 year contract to see if he can further develop this young team . I think they’re a decent team , now pretty strong defensively , just missing another dog of war in midfield and a reliable goal scorer

I tried to explain that Venky’s record of appointing overachieving managers was dire , one in ten years shows that . I’m not sure how much thought and analysis went into appointing TM , probably more luck than judgement . Admittedly I wasn’t sure about him , but thankfully it worked out . He got us back up whilst teams like Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich , Portsmouth are still down there . He then pushed on season by season .

Under Venky ownership, I’d argue that just one decent appointment in 10 years isn’t a record to rely on and as I said , the odds of another decent appointment on that basis don’t look good . I’m not sure if lightning would strike twice in the same place if we sacked him .

Out of interest who do you think would be a decent replacement for TM and why ?

Is be happy to initially try out some in-house promotion and give Damien Johnson his chance.
