Just had to install Office 365. What a time consuming and horrific experience on a nice sunny day.

IT and I Follow doing it's utmost to scupper the big kick off. Sooner this nation gets back to centuries old tried and trusted systems the better. Leave IT to the geeks from our schooldays, the miserably weak specimens who couldn't (or had no interest) in sports, fighting and girls.

IT is unreliable full bloody stop!

btw can anybody explain why companies 'hide' their telephone numbers away on their site and insist that people contact them by email? tbh I believe that I can actually answer that myself.... it's cos they can! Communication has slowed down massively as a result (I'm sitting on my hands waiting for a bloody email from work now!) How companies get away with insulting supposedly valued customers in this way I have no idea. Telephones are far and away superior methods of communication than emails so why tf are we rushing headlong away from Alexander Graham Bell's wonderful invention? If we all made a rule to deal only with companies that have a human being answering their phones within 3 rings they would all have to revert to treating customers promptly and with respect!
btw as a general rule I'd have to say that telecommunications businesses are the worst! Bloody unbelievable that isn't it?

IT systems screwing this up now!

There appears to be a general acceptance of computing errors by the general public not afforded to other areas in public life and business. Why is that? My guess is that most people (and particularly those in senior management positions just don't understand IT and computing and don't want to so they just let cock ups ride.
Those who pretend to understand, work and are responsible for IT systems are like people getting behind the wheel of a car for the first time with the intention of driving to London and back without having more than a brief 5 minutes instruction with a lawnmower.

Note in my post box today saying a parcel too big to go in the letterbox had been returned to the sorting office. I could go and collect go to the Post Office website or phone . I went to the local office on Canterbury st which was mistake No1. Seems they only open 8am-10am because of Coronavirus! FFS what a lame bloody excuse! I bet even Hitler couldn't shut the post office in 39-45! It's just any excuse to skive isn't it?
I came home and as instructed went onto royalmail.com/redelivery. Filled all the on screen forms on. pressed 'Proceed' and fuck all happened. Tried a few times before I accepted that it was fooked like most things that rely on IT.
Tried to phone and got pissed off with some automated woman's voice droning on and on about how sorry they were but covid has fucked em over. Utter bollocks! Hung up in disgust.

Royal Mail web site has a place for complaints, I couldn't be arse with it but I did click on and noticed that their average reference score is 1 out of 5. Not just me then eh?

Not just royal mail either. I managed to register after a hell of a faff on an On line auction site yesterday. Everything fine until they emailed back as the bank had refused to allow them to take a payment! No good contacting the bank I was informed ... I had to refer back to the auction company and request they proceed again.

Nowt works does it these days. Worst bit about it all is that as far as I can see people are just letting their time on earth slip by whilst attempting to cope with all this IT malarcky which as far as I can see is in no way designed to help the customer but rather to help the shareholder make a few bob through laying people off. "Please hold the line, we are very busy at the moment and all our operators are busy" is just a euphamism for we've sacked too many for the business to operater efficiently. I'd love somebody to compile figures to illustrate what percentage of our average lifespan is now spent waiting for flawed technology to work. I guess I'm being unfair blaming IT in itself, it is all really down to human error and humans are simply blaming computers. Whatever it is it's shit, impersonal and a massive waste of time.

I wondered why you had been uncharacteristically quiet in the last few days of the BRFC v Stoke debate WB. It's all very clear to me now. :p

The spread of IT around the world worries me.

1. It's like being on the high tech Space Shuttle but then finding out that it's being piloted with this lot...

2. As soon as they finally manage to get them them up to speed with the tech, the technology moves on again making the original redundant. Yet the anoraks pretend to the world that they know what they are doing.

I must say I ignore 90% of work emails but that's because I'm a curmudgeon and currently viewed as best left alone and persona non gratis by the faceless ones at head office. The following however puts a far different slant on the damage pointless emails and cc's puts on the environment. Once the big companies and retailers with their super sensitive, highly polished, squeaky clean images get to grips with this I seen a vast reduction on the cards.
