Note in my post box today saying a parcel too big to go in the letterbox had been returned to the sorting office. I could go and collect go to the Post Office website or phone . I went to the local office on Canterbury st which was mistake No1. Seems they only open 8am-10am because of Coronavirus! FFS what a lame bloody excuse! I bet even Hitler couldn't shut the post office in 39-45! It's just any excuse to skive isn't it?
I came home and as instructed went onto royalmail.com/redelivery. Filled all the on screen forms on. pressed 'Proceed' and fuck all happened. Tried a few times before I accepted that it was fooked like most things that rely on IT.
Tried to phone and got pissed off with some automated woman's voice droning on and on about how sorry they were but covid has fucked em over. Utter bollocks! Hung up in disgust.
Royal Mail web site has a place for complaints, I couldn't be arse with it but I did click on and noticed that their average reference score is 1 out of 5. Not just me then eh?
Not just royal mail either. I managed to register after a hell of a faff on an On line auction site yesterday. Everything fine until they emailed back as the bank had refused to allow them to take a payment! No good contacting the bank I was informed ... I had to refer back to the auction company and request they proceed again.
Nowt works does it these days. Worst bit about it all is that as far as I can see people are just letting their time on earth slip by whilst attempting to cope with all this IT malarcky which as far as I can see is in no way designed to help the customer but rather to help the shareholder make a few bob through laying people off. "Please hold the line, we are very busy at the moment and all our operators are busy" is just a euphamism for we've sacked too many for the business to operater efficiently. I'd love somebody to compile figures to illustrate what percentage of our average lifespan is now spent waiting for flawed technology to work. I guess I'm being unfair blaming IT in itself, it is all really down to human error and humans are simply blaming computers. Whatever it is it's shit, impersonal and a massive waste of time.
