Unbelievable OOT, your debut at Ewood was the very same day as my own. I've still got the programme with the corner chewed off!
Cheers Darrenrover - wow that is a coincidence . From memory I think I was stood with my Dad and brother in the Nuttall Street paddock near to the Blackburn End . My Dad ( typical Dingle :) ) ended up arguing with a copper who was stood on that orange gravel track , accused him of obstructing his view ! I think the Rovers won that game 2-1 - were Palace wearing all yellow ?

Middle class background eh? ;)
There were no concessions for kids I don't believe so kids in the Enclosure had to pay full price. I know we were fairly poor by todays standards and when I first went my dad who stood with his mates in the Darwen End side of the Nuttall St stand used to shove me in the left hand turnstile of the DE nearest to the enclosure with the instruction to go up the steps and stand next to the railings whilst he nipped round and went in the Enclosure and stood with his mates just the other side of the fence. Probably saved about 2 shillings (10p). Must be borne in mind though that you could get 10 fags for less than that or half a gallon of petrol so it was significant.

In truth ottoman Al got a ban in the recent BRFCS pograms as did yoda, SKH, Adopted Scouser (and prob lots more) whilst me n' Abbey have had more bans than enough over the years I guess we are both easily into double figures. Frustrated schoolyard bullies at work over there. Last time I got a ban (Sept 15) it was for 6 months and the offending post wasn't even hidden or deleted it was so bad! When my 6 months was up I did a Norman Hunter by getting my retaliation in first and I banned them! Never posted since.
One quick speed read of the Election thread illustrates why the imbalance is as it is and the agenda which it functions to. It's got more in common with Momentum than BRFC. As with most left wing regimes through history control can only ever be maintained through strict censorship. Just one member of staff stood apart from the crowd over there, Biddy* and goodness only knows how he stuck at it for so long.

*I may at this point be doing Ricky a disservice. I apologise if so.

Yeesh that's a relief, was starting to feel bad for a while there! Mind you telling Jim to stick his suicide vest in his suitcase and **** off to join IS was a bit too much fun to resist :D

Apologies Drog. I hadn't realised the extent of the bans dished out. Bloody disgraceful behaviour by the admin team, however you dress it up.

You inspired me to check when my first game was - 23 Nov 1968 v Charlton - not a great start - we lost 0-1

Not really Drog - my Dad worked in a cotton mill and Mum was a cleaner and then a shop assistant , although we did live in the "posh" part of Church :). Going to the game was an early birthday present and after that I pleaded with her to get me a Rovers shirt, which I'd seen on a stall in Accy market . My dreams came true the following Christmas and she even cut out and stitched a red number 3 on it . I still think Billy Wilson has been one of our best left backs - maybe between him and Graham Le Saux !

Never saw him play Al , but heard and read good things about him . Perhaps I should have said " ...............one of the best left backs I've seen play " :)

Never saw Bill Eck play Al but the best two full backs in my time have been Le Saux and the late (great) Keith Newton.

Greetings OnlyOneTugay. Fergy was summet else wasn't he?

But.... Perhaps we need to advertise a bit more? When we set up t'other lot applied roversfans.com to the swear filter so that no one could see it but I noticed that has been freed up now and Glenn even posted a link, although I feel that might have been down to embarrassment at the (unnamed) Mods actions..... if indeed it actually was done by a Mod. o_O
Fergy was a star , loved it when the Darwen End sang " Fergy for England " Another memory ( might have been a dream ! ) was Fergy elbowing Trevor Hockey ( he was a bit of a thug ) in the face and getting sent off against Birmingham. - which totally disappointed me , because that was normally a booking in the late 60s !

Trevor Hockey was the first to revert to longer shorts after the Italian influenced short shorts of the mid / late 60's. He was a dirty bugger in midfield and I copied him with some navy blue ones (school kit) and withing weeks they were the latest craze and everybody wanted them.

Quite topically and sadly Trevor Hockey died years ago at the age of 43 after a heart attack playing football.

Best 3 fullbacks I've seen and in order were Newton, le Saux and Billy Wilson.

Anyone remember home v Coventry a promotion battle we lost 0-1 (Gould) and Fergy got sent off and booted the waterbucket.

Me. Blatant handball in the area not given either. Cov went up that season. Fergy's dismissal might have been poetic justice for him getting David Wagstaffe sent off early doors (v Wolves earlier that same season) for retaliation after Fergy had literally scythed him down 3 times in the first 10 mins! Each tackle would have been a straight red now.

I was on the Riverside and everyone around me was convinced the ref had been bought! With Dougan's name in the frame
