"Utes" Abbs, I've got a golfing mate that has a 6Litre V8 with all the bells and whistles. Pete's into his 70's.
Coppers do a double take when the see who's behind the wheel.

Had Falcon Station wagon a few years back, 4 litre, drove to and from Adelaide some 3000 kms in 10 days.
It was 40c plus every day and the car never missed a beat, even with the aircon going full belt.
Big car, big engine, easy to drive

Lovely.

Dave that's actually pretty sound, not quite a car but better than a pick-up for sure.

ABBEY pray tell what are you driving? I'm gonna go with a Micra lol

Landrover Defender, 2001. Been in the garage getting mended more than it's been off the road, in the last 12 months. Bloody love it though, but not the garage bills. The garage has took the best part of 2 grand off me since this time last year, ouch! Not much chance of a speeding ticket tho and feel safe as houses when transporting my grandson around. Not done any off-roading yet but looking at this place up near Rochdale I might give a try this summer.

Maj, that looks like a late 70's early 80's model V8. Always loved that shape and the hatchbackish rear end.

I prefer older cars Dave, I understand them and don't need a million computers to diagnose/fix. Drove one when in Aus, loved it bought one once back. Bloody expensive on the fuel, great in a straight line and powerful. Fuel killed it so she got sold quickly.

Tell me about the fuel, though when I drove to Adelaide, I got good mpg, but I had cruise control on, straight line and nobody in front. I would have been doing 120-130 klicks.
From memory I got about 750kms out of a tank (68 litres). Didn't enjoy filling it up at $1.76 per litre out the back of nowhere.

I had a 1969 Chevy Impala years ago, it had been modified with Twin Holly downdraught carbs, competion pistons, exhaust etc, upgraded suspension and loads of other stuff, you could take it on the drag strip at Longridge (at that time) and it wouldn't embarrass itself. A nice little touch was the fibre optics that monitored the rear lights and were positioned on top of the front wings (fender I know) trying to find a picy of it but struggling

The sound coming from that engine would have been awesome

If only we paid dollars for our fuel here Dave. She cost me over a ton to fill up each time, that combined with my aggressive driving style was too much. Yoda that car sounds like a beast and I would have had a good go at you in my old mkiv astra! supercharged and turbocharged she did 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. I crashed that car a few times racing down in Devon. I spent more on the engine than the car itself and everything else. she was truly a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Had a black Vectra for ages but I only drive it on a Sunday when I meet ny daughter at the horses in Meols then down to New Brighton for tea.

I would love another car but I can't justify it for just one day driving. Also, this Vauxhall is comfy warm and quiet, and surprisingly quick.
