Taxi drivers can be bastards though can't they? I jumped in a taxi about 10 years ago (yes I know that I should have rung the base and ordered it to ensure that the ride was covered by insurance) precisely 1.8 miles from my home with 3 mates. Dropped off one and then the other two on the way. When I got to my house I asked how much for the fare?

"£13 please mate"!

The conversation went along the following lines.

"Fuck off! No way is it that much! Try again".

"Still 13 quid".

"OK then where is your charge sheet? Just under 2 miles and the last I heard it was £3 for the first mile and £1.20 for each subsequent mile.

"I don't have one"

"You bloody well will have!" I said as I opened the glove box and then dropped his sunvisor. "Oh look there it is, behind your visor. Now then £3 for the first mile and £1.20 after that. I make that £4!

"Yes but I had two passenger drops"

"0.20p each according to this. So thats £4.40. Not 13 bloody quid!

"Is £13."

"No bloody way." At this point I rang 24/7.

"Hello Uncle Drog. How are you? Are you well?"

"Yes fine thanks. Tell me how much from the Woodlands to my house?"

"Be about £5.00 Uncle",

"Many thanks, Bye".

"They don't know, they are wrong",

"Look it's your lucky day, I'm giving you a fiver and think yourself lucky that youre even getting that." I gave him said fiver.

"OK now get you get out"!

"No I'm not doing! I'm sitting here until you lose your next fare".

We sat there in silence for approx 5-8 minutes till I let him go on his way. Only way to treat em isn't it when they are on the rob? No wonder lots of taxi drivers get a good hiding is it?

You should have threatened to report him for plying for hire as the journey wasn't pre-booked. I am assuming that it was a private hire vehicle?

It was. I enjoyed sitting in silence whilst the lost his next fare immensely though. He'd never have expected that would he?

It's been reported that Kerr called the copper a "stupid white PC".
If I took action against those that called me anything like that, I'd have spent the rest of my days in court.
FFS, get on with life, leave the courts free to deal with more important stuff.

What I really want to know is, did the officer burst into tears?
Can I claim that some copper years ago belted me around the ears, and caused me irreparable damage, and sue for damages.
Get a grip, grow some and get on with life

Wouldn't surprise me if he/she/it did.
tbh I look at police these days and am dismayed! Tattoos all over the place, unkempt hair, all manner of facial hair, dodgy footwear and I've not even started on their physical state, short and puny being far from uncommon.
