I have missed conversing with you Darrenrover but I am not Drog (I suspect he will not be happy at that and one of us will most likely get a ban ;)). Incidents like these for me just keep racism alive, when I cannot even remember the last time I saw an occurrence.

Drog do I assume the lack of a capital letter in my username refers to our old debate over that topic? That would have riled me 10 years ago but not anymore, it does display a strong memory though, impressive.

Wasn't me you agreed with Nick it was majiball.

Anyway who can criticise the FA when the likes of the Police Forces and even the selection of prospective Parliamentary candidates have been skewed by the demand to selectively shoehorn non whites / women into positions and in doing so relegating actual merit to 3rd option.
Apologies Drog it was Majiball. Understandable slip from myself though because the post was so you.

A record 12 match ban.

Pretty average Sunday morning tackle when I was a lad.

They were not impressed at the Dale and yes that was pretty standard on Sundays for us too and no chance you'd get a foul for it.

Re: Ross Barkley. Great talent but something isn't quite connected between his ears. Is it just me or can anybody else see similarities between him currently and the direction David Dunn's career took? Precocious and creative local talent developed by his home town club, but a fall out with a Manager (who as a player had won everything there was to win in his career) culminating in a likely move away. All he needs is a mystery injury and it's history repeating itself.

Bit of a difference between the clubs Barkley is being linked to and where Dunn went. Bit pathetic of Barkley to keep them waiting on a contract after the club defended him so vehemently recently. Can't say I disagreed with MacKenzie pretty much calling him thick (Dunn has a similarity with Barkley in that respect) and I certainly don't think there was any racism involved. No doubt the timing of the article was deliberate though. Don't really see why they want to keep him anyway would you want him as the face of the club? Someone who's dumb as a box of rocks? For me its about image and personnel more than ability though clearly there has to be some degree of ability as well. What the hell was he doing in some nightclub anyway?

Souness and Dunn was a clash of egos. We know Souness is/was an egomaniac (he would probably admit it himself and particularly as a player it helped him) but sadly a lot of locals don't realise what a manipulative egotist Dunn truly is. Not intellectual but he knows how to manipulate the Blackburn public. Remember his leaving statement when he practically advocated himself as a future manager? Horrendous thought and that was before he predictably proved to be a complete failure at Oldham Athletic. Only time the lump has criticised the owners was over his own contract.

Could be meeting Bowyer next season. Say what you want about him, he's taken an absolute shambles of a club and at least made them competitive.

Bowyer is quite a solid manager. Not quite a 'Rowett' situation but he was sacked for I know not what.

Benitez was at it last week and now it's Maureen's turn!
What a plonker Mourhino sounds today by stating that he need's more money to spend on players before United can challenge Man City! 'Spend' translating as 'fritter' away in his case as he's blown almost 300 million on an assortment of Ordinary Joe's and Carlos Kickaballs but still cant beat the likes of Leicester and Burnley. Burnley in particular having spent probably a quarter of the cost of Carlton Mk2.
When is the Chairman of some big club going to take a chance on Dyche? Spurs showed the gulf in class between the squads just last week but yet Burnley are still punching toe to toe with the big boys. What more evidence of his managerial ability do they need?

Totally agree on Dyche but disagree on Benitez and Mourinho.

Benitez has made Newcastle a £10m profit in transfer fees whilst promoting them to a league that guarantees £100m TV money. I think his situation is very reminiscent of Sam at Rovers. Getting shafted resources-wise whilst the owner is looking to sell.

As for Mourinho, technically he's right in my opinion. Utd have spent a lot but City have spent a lot more (over the past 5 years). Man U still have ground to make up in squad quality and Mourinho's just saying he needs a level playing field to get the better of Guardiola.

But as I say if there is 4o0m on the field in red and 25m in claret and he was lucky to get a draw in the end then who the hell is going to trust him with their cheque book? Man Utd for all their spending are a country mile away from the teams that we faced under Hughes. I think the only current MU players who would get anywhere close to a start in that team would be de Gea and possibly Jones.
