We may as well give this kid his own thread because I've a feeling we need to.

Anyway I walked the dog to BB's mate's pub this evening for a quick pint or two and was privileged to overhear a conversation in a tent that's been erected outside the pub. I was at a table in the open air so it would have been impolite to join in.
Anyway opening line by an occasional BRFC fan to an obvious PNE supporter.
Q... "'So whats the craic with this Tyrhys Dolan? How come he left your lot?"

A.... "He wouldn't sign a contract for us because we don't have a proper youth set up so there was nowt we could do about it."

The conversation continued and how I refrained from joining in and :grinning:likening him to the new Damien Duff I don't know!
I thought afterwards I might have used 'the new Tom Finney' to even greater effect cos even Duffer at his prime never managed step overs like Dolan performed yesterday to befuddle Buchanan before crossing and helping set up Johnson for our 3rd. In fact I don't want to put pressure on the kid but I haven't seen stepovers and feet as fast as that that since Ronaldo first appeared for Man Utd!

I know the PNE chap you mean Gord. He is pleasant enough but changes his arguments to suit. A couple of weeks ago he said Dolan was not good enough to get into the Preston 1st team squad 🙄. I wonder what his view is now that Barkhuizen will be suspended.

As expected the PNE fans just cannot accept they made a mistake, there is not even a sell on clause 🤣🤣🤣

From the vids I've seen Dolan could be something special.
Let's give him a few, maybe a dozen games to see how it pans out, but it's looking promising.

I know I've said it before but he really reminds me of a young Bryan Douglas and I can't give him a better compliment than that.

I don't think they could do that BB. Sounds like with him informing PNE that he would not be re-signing that the ball was in his court. It's possible we've been tapping him for some time although I doubt anyone will ever own up to that.

I don’t think that’s the case otherwise they could have let him go for a nominal fee with a percentage of any future transfer fee. My understanding therefore is that he was just told he wasn’t wanted any longer hence nothing like this took place Of course as he continues to improve then pke will come out with all kinds of rubbish to placate their fans. I believe the truth is that they made a monumental error on deciding he wasn’t ready for the first team and that’s it. As I’ve said before heads should roll at dumpdale for this cock up.

Hopefully Dolan is telling all his mates how great it is at Ewood.
If I was one of his ex-team mates surely I'd be thinking "I've no chance of progressing here and Tyrhys is in the first team at Rovers now"

Surprised we're still talking about Alan Armstrong. Like Armstrong, Dolan came as a winger, but has made the transition to false centre-forward with ease. He can hold the ball up, drop deep to link up play, go wide, defends from the front, and he's now starting to find the net more frequently. Dolan might not have the selfish striker's streak of Armstrong, but if you ask me, his all round play is better. If he can keep knocking in the goals, as well as bringing others into play so well, we won't miss Armstrong as much as we thought we would.

Edit: meant to say Adam not Alan  - forgotten him already :p

His defensive work is excellent, something AA would rarely do. His finish against Cardiff was also in the mould of Armstrong. Those Nobbers must be a wee bit miffed me thinks.

Can't agree more SLKS and BB.
He's like a terrier, always wants to get at the ball, constantly looking for an opportunity.
He's looking more settled this season so far.
Not the biggest, but he's starting to look a bargain.

edit: because of his size, and because he's starting to make some opposition player look slow, he might need a "minder" as some players are going to stop him the crude way.

My point being Al is that he is already a regular starter in a team that is in the second tier. i haven’t looked but I would suspect most players in the England U20 squad would only be squad members at best in their respective teams. I love watching Dolan play.
