No point offering him a new contract. It’s time to let him go as he does not contribute with anything anymore.

We have offered him a new contract he has not signed it, if he does not sign by xmas he needs to be sold.

Elliott Jackson said that talks are still ongoing. I presume they talk until there is an agreement in principle before drafting a written contract. If they are at a dead end, perhaps the club drafts their final offer and waits for the player to sign it (at which point the player is presumably looking elsewhere). I doubt we're at the stage of a final contract being offered, yet, if talks are ongoing.

The lad is clearly liked by Tomasson, and he's getting regular game time even when he is fluffing his lines. Perhaps his first-team game time makes him feel as though he deserves more than what Rovers have offered so far, but if talks are ongoing, I think it will be resolved by Christmas at the latest.

Judging on yesterday - his team mates dont trust him with the ball - he appears to be their last resort option?

There were guys sat near me screaming for him to be given the ball when he was in acres of space - my respose was - they dont want too - so cue passing across the back until Hedges (who was excellent all day) or Brittan got into space and became the go to option

Both Brittan and Hedges can actually take on players and that makes a huge difference compared to Dolan. There is nothing wrong with Dolans work capacity but there is little quality in his playing and we need quality if we are going to push for the playoffs.

It's weird isn't it? Taking on players was his strong point two seasons ago. I still see him as a supersub though. His energy and application against tiring defenders has now taken over as his strong point.

Clearly a player who needs our support rather than the social media ‘boo boys’ destroying him. Good lad Tyrhys; keep your pecker up, you are a good un.

Couldn’t agree more BB. Just shows that words do hurt these young men. I’ve never understood how fans can pour such vitriol on players they don’t really know. At least we now know that Tyrhys has been through a rough time and I for one hope his obvious talent can help us climb the table.

Great article that, I’m fully supporting the lad. It’s clear he has the talent but money and talent don’t protect you from mental health issues.
Nice comment at the end though, what do you think drog?

Very little you can do. They make their minds up about a particular player at an early stage, and nothing will switch their position - even absolutely glaring contrary evidence on the pitch!”

In the last two games he has made telling contributions the first goal at qpr and the great ball for JRC to score on sat.

Dolan is 21, BBD had flopped here for two years by that time and only started finding the net when he was 22. Lot's of players only come good in the latter stages of their careers. Shearer was a freak but we've had lots of late developers in the past, Freidel, Tugay, Samba, Hendry, Bentley, Brotherstone etc etc were all over 21 when they became top players.

Personally I don't rate Dolan ability-wise (first touch, finishing, passing, speed, strength, heading etc), I do massively rate him heart-wise (work-rate, bravery, attitude on the pitch), but with a full strength squad he wouldn't start for me.

But the where and how of fan criticism is very important. For me, it should never be done directly to a player (either in the ground or on Twitter) where it can knock their confidence . And even when its not directly to them, I don't think it should be personal insults and vitriol.

There's a section of football fans (higher in the modern era I think) that are either braindead idiots, bullies, or bitter/jealous people, and they seem to enjoy treating their own players this way. Even when you tell them it'll make Rovers play worse, they don't care. I've said before but its almost stopped me, a die-hard home and away fan at one time, from going, such is my level of contempt for those people.

But the one thing I would say though is I wouldn't be on Twitter in a million years if I was a professional footballer. As much of a shame as it is for the decent fans, I'd stay away from my club's fans as much as possible. You don't need that negativity and volatility influencing your morale. Clap fans after the game, but otherwise just stay away from them.

Is there any update about his contract? Since his comeback he has had a positive contribution to the team which is good and maybe it’s time to sign a new contract or train with the reserves…

If Eustace plays Dolan in the manner that he did yesterday, I think there'll be a greater chance of Dolan renewing his contract.

I simply don't understand the growing animosity toward him from some sections of the crowd.

Interesting comment from Dolan in his Rovers TV interview.

"It's nice to know that we can be versatile now"

"He (Eustace) said a few words to us that got us motivated and got us going"

"When you see him (Eustace) there (on the touchline) it shows the passion he's got for the team and the club"

Starting to paint a picture for me of what we've been missing.

I think it's his reluctance to sign a new contract.
And who thinks 'growing animosity' on the terraces is going to help get him to sign a new one?
