To be fair I thought it was going to be something you poured in your petrol tank as supposed to a band.

I've always liked cars, although not always been able to afford a good 'un, and picked some bad 'uns along the way.
Started off with a Beetle, Renault 14, Fiat 131 racing (held together by rust, but quick) , Opel Ascona 2.0 SR, variety of middle of road company cars (cavaliers, orions, Mondeos, montego etc), VW Scirocco (old type), Mondeo ST 24, BMW 528, Mazda RX8, Vectra (needed something normal after the money pit RX8) Honda Civic and finally my current vehicle a Ford Ranger.

I have company fuel card and don't do too many miles. Roughly 28 mpg round town.
It's a superb driving position and practical, apart from parking!

Will be changing the Vectra soon. As I have 24 hour use of a huge van and my other half needs a car think I'll buy a German hatch, probably a Golf and she can use it, I'll buy it and nip to the Wirral on Sundays.

Get yourself a Subaru Impreza hatchback.
A real drivers car, and if you want to go to hoonsville, a WRX

Years back, AS , my daughter and I were looking for her first car. We checked all the second stuff, and went to the car yards. We quickly came to the conclusion that a new car was the best way to go. For two reasons , 1. Financial, it would give her a credit rating, and 2 Less cost through servicing.
Anyway, we went to one place (Ford as it happened) and the guy there told us the details, had a test drive, and then he asked us where we were going next. We said Subaru, he says, you won't be back.
He was right. That Impreza was a fantastic car, so good, I sold my Mitsubishi Station wagon to keep the Impreza.
The only reason I got rid of the impreza was that I needed to transport 3-4 guys and golf clubs, so I bought a station wagon( with all the bells and whistles).
AS drive one, try it.

They are great cars Dave, a few years ago my neighbour in Wallasey imported one of the early Subaru's, asked if I wanted a go. Drove it along Leasowe road toward the lighthouse, quick check of the mirror dropped a gear and floored it.

My arse ended up in the boot somewhere

Subaru Impreza turbo / 'scooby doo' legendary petrol head machine. Nearly bought one once except the drivers seat was too narrow for my shoulders.
Also had a test drive in a Subaru Forester 2.0 Turbo xt. Fantastic machine to drive. Torque to burn and permanent 4 wheel drive which gave it one hell of a punch. Looked a bit like a packing crate but 217bhp as standard (much more possible with re mapping) and suspension to match would surprise many more fashionable cars getting away from the lights. "Forest Thump" as one motoring journo aptly christened it at the time. Only put off cos I was doing about 25k miles pa and the fuel consumption forced a head over heart decision.

Drog, I picked up my mates wife's turbo forester after a service, I'm sure I left a few years rubber on the road!
Funnily enough, she's selling it atm, I've suggested she waits til my daughter gets back from OS, it's only got 50K on the clock.
