I don’t follow golf myself but apparently Peter Aliss has died.

A great loss. Following the death of the likes of Dan maskell and Richie Benaud he's been the single best sports commentator in the world imo. If you have 15 minutes watch his speech when he was inducted into golfs gall of fame.

If you only have 30 seconds this is brilliant........ Ken Brown was in fits. (337) Peter Alliss on Carol Vorderman - YouTube

Just as an aside Allis was Europe's heaviest baby at one time at over 14lbs!

in 1923, Who Was:

1. President of the largest steel company?
2. President of the largest gas company?
3. President of the New York stock Exchange?
4. Greatest wheat speculator?
5. President of the Bank of International Settlement?
6. Great Bear of Wall Street?

These men were considered some of the world’s most successful of their days?

Now, 90 years later, the history book asks us, if we know what ultimately became of them?

The Answers:

1 The president of the largest steel company.
Charles Schwab,
died a pauper.

2. The president of the largest gas company,
Edward Hopson,
went insane.

3. The president of the NYSE,
Richard Whitney,
was released from prison to die at home.

4. The greatest wheat speculator,
Arthur Cooper,
died abroad, penniless.

5. The president of
the Bank of International Settlement,
shot himself.

6 The Great Bear of Wall Street,
Cosabee Livermore,
also committed suicide

However,
in that same year, 1923, the PGA Champion and the winner of the most important golf tournament, the US Open, was
Gene Sarazen.

What became of him?

He played golf until he was 92, died in 1999 at the age of 95. He was financially secure at the time of his death.
The Moral of the Story:
Fuck work.
Play golf.

Well I hope all roversfans.com golfers have got their bookings in for Monday 29th March . I notice one of WGC top boys has already booked his 😉

The first day slots are now more or less taken . I’ve managed an early start at 9.06 am - the early bird and all that 😀

As the song goes ain’t no stopping us now ..........

We missed a couple of weeks last year, and went to two balls for a few months. But it's been practically normal from then on.
We have to still scan a QR code (for track and trace purposes) and maintain a relaxed social distance thing in the clubhouse.
Biggest problem of late has been the amount of rain we've had, bunkers out of play, and tee up through to the green.

Kinell! Morikawa looks like a sixth former! Now Jordan Speith now knows how it feels to lose to a newbie.

Not a great Open for the Brits with Paul Casey our best 10 shots behind in 15th position.
