But it won't Abbey. Guns just make it easier and assault weapons especially. Thomas Hamilton could have done as much damage with a hatchet or a knife. Somehow we need to have the facilities to lock up people deemed 'high risk' until they can assure us that they are not.

Richard Littlejohn was trending on twitter and unsurprisingly he's offended a lot of people. On the other hand some agree with many of his points. I have nothing against gay marriage and gay couple having children at all but some of his points are well argued . I agree 2 men is better than a state run institution (and Littlejohn says this) though not sure how accurate it is that children brought up in such places have a better than average chance of being abused.

Shouldn't be allowed! So much concern for the welfare of children yet kids of homosexual parents like these two and the odious Elton John and David Furnish will get enough shit off their peers at nursery and school that they will be mentally damaged for life. and I'm looking forward to the weekend )You have a point there from the bullying standpoint. On average though they may cope just the same as some people cope better with life in general than others. I think he should have broken down a women's role in bringing up a child more but I assume it was mainly a reference to bullying kids and sneering "straight" parents. From a nurturing standpoint a woman may well have qualities men don't (I don't just mean breast feeders lol) but as Littlejohn says 2 men is better than some alternatives. I certainly don't think being gay should be classed as "not normal" but same sex couples bringing up children isn't anywhere near as prominent in society yet. So even in cases where such couples are wonderful parents there is some logic in his argument though "not widespread" may have been a better term. The liberals of course are responding as they already bloody do. WAH WAH homophobe WAH WAH.
As for Elton and Furnish you can't deny the money is one of their plus points. There's a lot of odious celebrities though regardless of what their relationship preferences are. Money not the only important thing of course and it may not guarantee happiness but still...

3. Yes. Suburban and rural Americans have more guns than any demographic in the world and are as safe as the UK despite that.
America has always had guns. School shootings are a phenomenon of the last several decades, coinciding with the Supreme Court making it harder to institutionalize the mentally ill, the breakdown of societal standards and multiculturalism.

Steve, The highlighted bit applies also to the UK , Australia and other countries. It was seen as getting the inmates of these places back into society and (hoping) that it would "normalise" them.
It didn't and hasn't, but, what hasn't happened here, and in the UK and other places, is there hasn't been an assault on the public, particularly schools, as there has in the USA.
I understand the reason for your 2nd amendment, but also realise that in was written for different era. It's a bit like Catholic dogma (celebcy et al). It needs to brought up to date into the 21st century. Circumstances are totally different to when it was originally written.
