You have a militarized police force that already have too many powers, they can confiscate property without proving you guilty of any crime, force you to carry ID, execute you without a trial, and under the NDAA it's still legal for American citizens to be detained indefinitely.

And the USA rate of mass shootings and/or killings is pretty much average, compared even to our European cousins.

My point is that "muh second amendment" does nothing to deter the government, but at least banning them would reduce the innocent lives lost in mass shootings..

You may have thought that was your point, but it didn’t take. If my government is so evil and despotic, why would I want to encourage them further in their tyranny by acquiescing to the public disarming?

That's only part of the package . Don't forget the gold plated pension that is probably attached to this job Wilpshire . If it's anything like some other public sector schemes, the taxpayer is on the hook for an additional £25,000 per annum for employer contributions. As the author of the article below says , protect defined benefit pensions for those paid up to £30,000, but pensions after that should be based on defined contributions .

I've never worked in public service but isn't this all about pay grades? "that new chaps come in on more money than me but we are supposed to be on the same pay grade so I want the same as him". Heaven forbid they advertise and fill the role for less or they'd all be expected to take a cut.

I must say Trumps plan to arm teachers and train them in the use of weapons is somewhat flawed unless of course the hand guns are standard 'Men in Black' issue.

Large cahoneys and a significant amount of luck would definitely be required should some middle aged spinster with a tight perm and a small hand gun in her purse have to go up against some whiptop dressed in a 'vest' and armed with an automatic assault rifle, a pump action shotgun and half a dozen grenades.
As the age old saying goes.... Them as can, do. Them as can't, teach! Sorry but this is a complete none starter.

When I was in high school there were always a few armed teachers (a retired Marine and a couple of rednecks). There were several trucks with rifles in the parking lot. Then came the “gun free school zone” laws. Surprisingly (for those without a brain) afterwards mass shootings at school became a thing.

If they decide to go postal do you think a law will prevent them from killing? Anyone with half a brain and something of an education can arrange mass murder in a very short time, if they’ve lost their sanity and any sense of morality.
