Depressing as hell the Turkey situation. Decades of military protection and friendly behaviour from the West to try and encourage progressivism, and back they go to another medieval Islamist throwback. Makes Egypt's rejection, albeit it very narrowly, of the same fate under the Muslim Brotherhood all the more impressive.

'Very mentally disturbed' according to the authorities. To be honest I've no doubt he was, but has anyone else noticed that a lot more mentally disturbed Muslims kill people than mentally disturbed non-Muslims?
I'm beginning to think it goes beyond religion. I know many peace loving, productive and stable Muslim citizens. Maybe it's inbreeding? Some areas have far too many cousin marriages for far too many generations. If so, a DNA test might sort those out so they won't be let in.

Whoever decided to use that name as the English version must have meant it literally (and I don't mean birds).

Another terror attack foiled for marseille.
French 'citizens' again. Inviting Islam freely into Europe over the past century is having disastrous consequences now isn't it?
From the Mirror."Both men are thought to have pledged allegiance to ISIS after becoming radicalised while in prison. They are believed to have recorded a martyrdom video in advance of the planned attack. Each was well know to the security services and had been tailed for a number of months."

Now we have a different brand of justice here than the French based on the principle of innocent untiul proven guilty, but I was led to believe many years ago that the French based their justice system on 'guilty until proven innocent'. I presume this must have changed in recent years or else why weren't the buggers clicking their heels in some French gaol?

The ever-present factor of damaging community relations perhaps? I don't know how many people in France are known to the authorities in terms of terrorist risk but I'd imagine it's in the tens of thousands and I'd imagine over 99% are Muslim.

You lock all that lot up and you'll probably create and even worse problem. There's a great quote from the US diplomat in Pakistan in Homeland season 4 talking about the US target list on the Afghan border. Says it had 8 on it at the time of 9/11 and has thousands on now.

The West has imported a problem it may take a thousand years to solve.

Another policeman shot in Paris.
On the Champs Elysees as well, one Policeman dead with another wounded.
We used to go to the Champs Elysees once a month/every 6 weeks when we lived in France, now it is a dangerous place and I would not recommend it to anyone.

No cos it's not murder BUT it might be fair to let the victim have a say in the punishment.

Article on rising acid attacks. Should these be treated the same as murder by courts? In some ways I think its worse than murder, subjecting someone to a lifetime of mental torture in trying to come to terms with their disfigurement and how it affects their relationship with anyone they come into contact with.
Whatever disfigurement that is inflicted on the victim should likewise be imposed on the criminal. In addition to a hefty prison sentence.

That's me being kind-hearted. My instinct is that if anyone is such an animal to throw acid on another human being, that criminal has forfeited any recourse to our common humanity and should be hung by the neck until dead.

The eu gravy train passengers will be biting their fingernails to the bone over the political situation in France. Now who do we know who that might apply to?:)
