I'd like to say at this point that I'll volunteer to stand in for Harry if he can't make it on the day.

Anyone sucking up to these clowns is a sheep. People laugh at brainwashed North Koreans but it's different when you're brought up that way from birth. Of course some are probably too afraid to speak out against the regime because even your own families might sell you down the river.

I wonder how many schools have been doing artwork, etc over this wedding. Many of them I'm sure but you can't force monarchist beliefs on people. They probably just see it as a harmless exercise but as someone with republican beliefs it's the worst kind of conformist nonsense. I guess they have to cover the monarchy from a historical perspective but present day issues shouldn't be that relevant. Even stories like the 1997 Paris car crash. It wasn't something that really changed society besides the grief junkies becoming more notable since.

Ridiculous comment and quite reminiscent of the left's patronising attitude to politics. "Anyone who voted for Brexit is thick", "Anyone who wants to control immigration is racist", "Anyone who votes Tory is a rich toff". Its all based on the assumption that you're indisputably 100% right, therefore anyone who disagrees with you can't have a valid reason for it.

This is paraphrased from wikipedia:

"MORI Polls in the opening years of the 21st century showed support for retaining the monarchy stable at around 70% of people, but in 2005…support for the monarchy dipped, with one poll showing that 65% of people would support keeping the monarchy…with 22% saying they favoured a republic. In 2009 an ICM poll…found that 76% of those asked wanted the monarchy to continue after the Queen, against 18% of people who said they would favour Britain becoming a republic.

In February 2011, a YouGov poll put support for ending the monarchy after the Queen's death at 13%. However, an ICM poll shortly before the royal wedding suggested that 26% thought Britain would be better off without the monarchy. In April 2011 an Ipsos MORI poll…found that 75% of the public would like Britain to remain a monarchy, with 18% in favour of Britain becoming a republic. In May 2012…a Ipsos MORI poll…found that 80% were in favour of the monarchy, with 13% in favour of the United Kingdom becoming a republic."

Republicanism is making no headway whatsoever, and it seems to me that Republicans are becoming increasingly bitter about it.

Well in this case I am right. I'm not a liberal leech like Liegard who does exactly the above on issues like Brexit, Trump etc. At least they are actually important societal issues whatever side of the fence you're on.

Should nobody have listened to Wilberforce when he was an advocate against slavery? At first he was widely mocked. Of course supporting the monarchy is not as bad as that but sometimes it's right to stand up against something. These people are a drain. I am not a "subject" and will say so. Officially they took "subject" off British passports years ago but that's not enough. Is "subject" less offensive to you than "sheep?" It's basically the same thing.

All you wrote applies even better to religion and various Gods. You should channel your energies to attack and do away with religion Vinjay because at least the Royal family actually exist.

I suppose this kind of thing happens when you stop teaching British/English history in schools

Yeah apologies Vinjay, was a bit rude to you there. For some reason digs at my intelligence always hit a nerve.

I understand wanting to support the principle of liberalism and being subject to nobody but I don't think the modern monarchy in any way resembles subjugation.

To me they're:
1. A tourism cash cow for the country to milk.
2. A useful failsafe in the event of a dangerous government being elected (just look at General Sisi saving Egypt from the Muslim Brotherhood, could be us one day the way things are going).
3. A likeable, decent bunch who are a reminder of this great country's history.
