Maybe because the other examples don't shove it in our faces every 2 minutes. I'm bored AND I don't like them. There's something about rich, greedy families who leech off the generosity of others I don't like.
Its not just the marriage either but the deliberate, self centred timing for maximum attention.
Every 2 minutes? The royal family are mentioned less in the news every year. But like it or not, only 18% of people want rid of them (albeit a loud 18%) so major events with them will always get coverage.
I consider myself to be very pragmatic about the economy so I wouldn't support them if they didn't make us money, but they do, a lot:

Add to that their place in British history, this great country that revolutionised industry, pioneered democracy, and once ruled a third of the world.
The only thing to get over as I see it is jealousy. An emotion I think the left traditionally enjoy cultivating more than the right.
