Don't forget the salaries released is the tip of the iceberg as the vast majority of faces we see and voices we hear on the beeb are paid via production companies.

I've said it many times, the BBC is not fit for purpose.

I was just reading about all of this BBC stuff in my online Times this morning. I had never heard of some of these people, for example Jeremy Vine - I don't watch any of his telly stuff and don't do Radio 2. As for Chris Evans I detest the midget ginger nut, if I see him I turn off - he killed Top Gear.

The National Minimum Wage would be too much for some of them. Sadly all of this stuff will play into the hands of Communist Corbyn and his Central Committee.

Strange one this with lots of anomalies. Like most public organisations people in charge are playing with someone else's money. On the other hand one could argue that it's the going rate for such talent. One comparison might be why International footballers command higher wages than international Rugby players or international cricketers for example. How about the accusations of sexism? Why do male England footballers command so much more than their female counterparts?
One terribly sad indictment on our nation is that the highest earners are the candy floss TV brigade e.g. Linekar, Vine, Evans*** who like the Top Gear team before them present such eye watering rubbish. Another example is why should Gary Linekar command many times the salary of Andrew Neil? (I notice Dimbleby's remuneration has managed to stay secret). Truth is they are more marketable and if you want to figure in that market then you have to pay the going rate.... or find a 'new and improved' version. Fine when it works but the public can be unpredictable, I can use TG as an example here too.
Just as a final comment and as we USED to say about BRFC players worsening after leaving the club I can't readily think of a 'star' who has left the beeb for money and
a. not been adequately replaced TG perhaps excepted (although I truly believe that it's tired old format was on the wane anyway.... lets be honest most would perhaps channel hop and watch it through boredom but who would actually stay in purposely to watch the trio's latest vacuous comments?).
and
b. improved his / her public profile. People might have been tempted away by more money fair enough but long term they will fade from the public view and the rating driven moguls at alternative TV companies will discard them as quickly as it picked them up. The tomorrows chip paper of the air waves..

*** I will concede that the likes of Evans and Vine are expected to perform daily and manage to stay fresh and interesting whilst many others (Linekar for one) simply have to perform weekly.

The amount of licence payers money given to the likes of Evans , Norton and Lineker is obscene , but the coverage is now centering on the gender pay difference . I sincerely hope that male "talent" remuneration is scaled down rather than female " talent " scaled up . If Huw Edwards ( that Welsh newsreader ) thinks that Sky , ITV etc will pay him north of £600,000 to read the news out , let him go and replace him with some other " talent " who I'm sure could read an autocue just as well

I have stammered since the age of 8 but could still do a better news reading job than that welsh windbag Huw Evans.

Killed two birds with one stone there BB :D , or should that be two overpaid , under talented BBC "celebrities " in one hybrid name !?

You can tell he failed to impress given I can't even remember his name. Mind you when my stammer was bad I used to use alternative or substitute words :(

Some of these celebs are the mainstay of the show and it wouldnt be the same show without them (e.g. some of the better known actors and the political presenters).
If the beeb lost them, would it be as good?

However, the likes of Lineker could easily be replaced and i bet the viewing figures wouldn't drop much.
Would you really avoid watching MOTD if it was one of us lot saying " next up United v Arsenal, should be a cracker" and you saw more of the match and less of the so-called experts?
The "cherry on the top" brigade should be flirted off and the presenters the show cant do without should remain as they ARE the show.

I think Andrew Neil is a superb presenter and host of the Daily and Sunday Politics and News Week after QT , but other than him , I can't think of anyone on the BBC who really springs to mind as a stand out presenter or actor.

Radio wise I'd miss Jonathan Agnew and some of his crew on TMS , but again no one else comes to mind on the radio apart from the talentless and unfunny Chris Evans

Perhaps I'm missing something and should attempt to get better value from the compulsory annual tax they levy on me

As I said in an earlier post , with the exception of the political programmes . I watch very little of BBC output which is why I object to paying the licence fee . I also get fed up of its blatant left / liberal and pro EU agenda . Change it to a subscription channel
