I'd agree Al but I did say 'high profile but dreadful'. I'd never say Coyle was high profile .... that's for that Alan Nixon to make a dick of himself with.
Vinjay.... Imagine Mowbray resigns tomorrow and all those names apply for the job .... who would you go for to get the best out of our squad and lead us to promotion? I expect you'll go for O'Neill but I wouldn't cos there's just something about him that I can't take to.
Hodgson definitely. I know you don't think he's any good but you're thinking about the top level. In L1 perhaps you would rank him much higher. The only issue would be that he was here before (and his age) but it wasn't all bad. He had some horrendous bad luck with injuries though admittedly his signings were generally poor. I still believe he would have made a better go than Kidd at avoiding relegation though it may not have been enough to secure his job. The football in his early months is still a big highlight for me though maybe it is a little "rose tinted" because 97-98 was my first season after all.
O'Neill would be 2nd for me from that list though. You might not like him personally but that shouldn't impact your viewpoint to the extent you call him dreadful. I don't care much for Allardyce personally but I've never said he was an awful manager.
Eriksson isn't dreadful (though in recent roles he probably just signed up for the paycheck) but his conduct in 96-97 was despicable. Its a disgrace that Rovers fans didn't abuse him heavily whenever he appeared at Ewood in later years.
