Venky's judgement

Even the phenomenal away support for a club our size doesn't help us financially and anyone who has refused to get a season ticket for Ewood and travels away instead is about as much use to the club as a chocolate teapot.
As far as I can see only a strong management team and strong support from the locals will see us progress
Make your mind up.
You say we can only progress with strong support but fans that only support at away matches are of no value!!!

He's absolutely right though. Apart from encouragement what value do the club get from away support? Only the revenue from HOME support will pay the wages and buy the players, or do you expect the owners to finance everything? Cue a rant from the boycotters who no longer support the club.

I did say top 6. However all those will be starting next season and every season in a relegation battle until the inevitable happens. Without hope supporting a football team ain't up to much.
The hope you don't get relegated.

The hope that you beat one of the Big Boys.

The hope that you beat and finish above Burnley.

The hope that one day I'll meet a fit as feck 60+ Lady of independent means who fancies a bit .... awe... shite wrong site/ thread!

I don't disagree with your reasoning but that's just looking at the potential at recouping the loss from trading should we manage to get promoted to the PL.
If that did happen, what would the value of the club be then should they decide to sell it?

If some of the figures being bandied about for the sale of other clubs, Dingles for example, of £200 million are to be believed, then they're sorted. As things currently stand, the club is worth 2/3 of bugger all.

If they're as wealthy as we're lead to believe, it would be wise to twist?
Fair point, although if Venkys were £200m out of pocket by the time we got promoted due to the cost of financing it, they'd have to sell the club for like £1 (given the money they've lost so far has all been piled onto the club debt).

I'm just going off what already happens. There must be a reason why the many bigger clubs than Rovers in the Championship aren't bankrolled to promotion. Seems to me that the risk is too great, as I said a club could easily spend £100m, fail, and the owners never get that money back. Jack was a fan, but almost every other owner in football is a hard-nosed businessman, and if the risk vs reward doesn't make sense it aint happening.

I'm not trying to be negative about this. More hoping that fan expectation levels finally realign to something realistic. So that when the relegation battle that I'd put money on happening next season comes around, the players and manager are supported through it rather than abused for say not being in the play-off hunt.

Maybe the owners aren't mega rich and can't afford it.

You've summed it up perfectly Alan. That's the whole point.

Love Rovers Hate Venky's
A very selfish point if you don't mind me saying so. Who do you expect to finance the wages and transfer fees then if you won't. The rest of us real supporters?

He is a real supporter.
Thanks Mate. Have a good day today.

For Alan's benefit, I've had a season ticket for most of the last 45 years. One or two gaps.

When Venky's appointed Coyle in the way they did, I couldn't take any more. It convinced me that they are completely inept or corrupt and/or totally ambivalent to the feelings of the supporters. I was also convinced that they were not particularly concerned or worried about the future of Blackburn Rovers.

At that point I decided I didn't want to support the owners in any way. It was a big decision for me. I still feel that Rovers have a rocky ride ahead with Venky's at the helm.

The owners can decide how much of their money they spend on the club and I can decide how much of my money I supply to them.

I still support the club with as much passion as ever and I've enjoyed this season going to away matches. It's been a great season.

If not going to home matches makes me selfish and not a real supporter then fair enough. I'll live with it.

I maybe should have stressed 'financial' support but I thought that was obvious.

Quite but it's financial supporters that the club needs. If everybody just supported away the club would die so it is left to us who buy our home tickets. Is that not fair?

]Er rather than have a go at boycotters who only go to away games look at the facts...you do realise away clubs get a cut of ticket sales ..not pay on the day tho

Tony Mowbray has disclosed that he is shortly going out to India to present his plans and budget for next season. I would say that if he stays as manager it will be a strong indication that his plans have been backed. I can't see him staying if he is not given a decent budget. Now is his best chance to get a bigger job if he is not backed and I think he would take one of those opportunities.
