foo fighters, a vastly over rated band who have sold their souls to pop music.

I have just witnessed the worst gig ever for political messaging.
Started off with Roger Waters covering pink floyd numbers with some decency
Might post those below .
It then descended into a full on assault on Trump, using Floyd songs that have nothing to do with Trump, like pigs ( Mary Whitehouse)
Having young kids on stage with black hoods on their heads for "brick in the wall".
Apparently the interval was filled with political slogans projected on the wall ( I was watching the footy and buying beer )
I walked out as did friends of mine who are far more left wing than I but wanted an evening of Floyd music not political shit.
I'm surprised the other living members of Floyd dont sue him.
Worst gig for many a moon and £85 to boot.

With England playing I'd have stayed home...... mind you I'd never have been there as I've never rated Floyd very much at all.

Anyway WB what sort of fare did you expect to be spoon fed to that bunch of ageing hippies and Timothy Leary devotees in the audience who saw their musical and social relevance blown to smithereens by punk / new wave revolution 40 years ago? Anti establishment 'make love not war' types all now likely retired and living off their massive and inflation proof public sector pensions provided by the hated capitalist environment they chose to help prosper?

They went through a stage of litigation years ago when Waters left the band after conflict over content and direction. Waters considered himself as the real Pink Floyd.
When Gilmour joined after Sid cracked up, more and more political messages began appearing in their music but I think this was Waters imposing his will on the band hence the eventual split.
A lot of their earlier music was considered exceptional by critics and their musical peers.
They did the champagne socialist trick though and moved to France (before we joined the current iteration of the 4th Reich) I remember thinking at the time why have you moved to France it sounds like running away/copping out to sae some tax.
I saw Pink Floyd live 5 times but now the albums/cd's sit on the shelf and when I do play them, it is to appreciate the overall "sound" and production quality, not the political messages embedded in it.
I guess it's part of maturing and growing out of something that the education system tries to instill in you in this country.
Roger Waters has had a chip on his shoulders most of his life it seems, probably linked to his Father and the second world war.
His and others political sermons, while living abroad, are so 1970's now.
Sid Barrat is still a legend though, I remember one of his peers describing some of his chords as frightening :)

Amen to that. Seems another Jeremy Corbyn past his sell by date. Just another rebel without a cause.

Lots of things have been said about the Windrush generation but is it onlyme that thinks that their legacy isn't all that great?

Just as an aside why do they speak so strangely and why do they appear to go out of their way to be employable? A return to National Service certainly doesn't ever get a mention does it? And yet again there appears to be more 'birds of a feather' stuff where communities evolve, isolate by choice and will not attempt to integrate with the wider population.

I'd have thought the Donny away promotion match might have been above them tbh.

Gun's and Roses have done a few good uns I suppose but the fact remains that if they were playing in my garden I'd probably end up drawing the curtains.
